I\'ve recently worked out that Dolby Digital is a useless pile of crap, does anyone know where I can get a list of region 2 DVD\'s with DTS, it\'s far nicer.

Any help/hints would be much appreciated.

AC3 > DTS

just my opinion, and any problem yer having with AC3 is either due to cheap equipment or just plain old user error

DTS sounds too washed out

I ran a few movies through my Technics amp, AC3 sounded too clinical, almost tight-arsed when it comes to delivering surround effects whereas DTS seems to come out more full of life, the effect speakers really earn their money.

Try Fast And The Furious on AC3 and Then DTS, put the sound on AC3 to a good listening level, watch the first race scene at night and then run it again on DTS. Jesus Christ it nearly blew my head off, the difference without changing volume, delays etc.... was mind blowing.

Maybe I just need my new Yamaha (when I\'ve got £500 free!!).

Technics aren\'t the best, but as a tool for comparing without changing settings it does the job. Any opinions on the one below, it\'s just I\'d like to know before caning £300 or so.

Um, actually Bose sucks nuts. They\'re pricey and not all that good sounding. It would be best to stay away for their stuff.

OK, Yamaha can consider yet another amp sold. They produced the best budget Pro Logic amp ever (DSP-A492) and I want another of the same brand.

Oh if only I could afford the A1, how much does a kidney get on e-bay?!

well i think their good, actually i only started to like bose when i first walked in to the store from which i bought my ps2, the store had a booth with a tv (playing the movie  brave heart) hooked up to bose speakers.
well when i sat in that room all i could say/think was WOW, but i guess those speakers were from the high end model range and thats why they sounded really good.

BTW i found that the creative inspire 5700 is pretty good too

That\'s cool Tyrant, and I didn\'t mean to diss your opinion. It\'s just that Bose is trying to sell their products like it\'s highend gear or something.... when you would be better off buying cheaper (yet better) stuff from a respectable brand.

Bose sound alright, but I would never put them in my home.  Way to expensive for what they really are.  THere are far better speakers out there for the money.  And how can you compare AC3 and DTS on a POS Techniques stereo.  More than likely your processor is a POS on the DD side.  DTS does sound better on some things, but for the most part they are fairly similar.

Anyone who makes a sound comparison for home theater and begins the demo by putting in FAF has lost it for me.  That piece of crap movie will never enter my doors.  I watched 8 minutes of it after I downloaded it on my computer and it is a POS.  Worst acting.  Even worse than Keanu Reaves in MAtirx, Speed 1, Speed 2,  Sweet November, The Replacements, The Devil\'s Advocate, Johnny Mnemonic, etc.....

MM and I need to get together for a movie marathon.
