Have you tried warm milk? I hear that puts you to sleep fairly quickly too. Even if it dosen\'t, it still gives you a good excuse to suckle on yer GF\'s titty for a few extra hours a night. :D

I just turn a fan on low and blow it in my face.  I don\'t know why, but it works.

Simple answer: Work out!  This naturally gets your body tired later in the day and easily allows you to fall asleep.  Ever since I started working out again I\'ve never slept better.

Sleeping mediactions have been known to affect your dreams, and it\'s your dreams which actually do the "healing" overnight to make you feel refreshed when you wake up.  I actually was on prescription medication to help me fall asleep and noticed I didn\'t dream as much and woke up not feeling as refreshed and ready to go as I used to, so I got off it.  It works, but not perfectly.

And as stated above a constant sound or hum helps to put you asleep.  This simply masks any other noises that would otherwise wake you up & I\'ve heard soft sounding hums naturally put people at ease because when we were in the womb the sound of our mother\'s heartbeat was the first thing we heard (and felt).  Just keep the fan on instead of auto on your A/C system.

well I\'ve been avidly body building for some 5-6 years, and working out has never helped me sleep.  And if I do it too late it\'ll keep me up.  But then again I usually use weight that makes me have border line anurisms, so it get\'s the adrenaline up there, and wirez me for a good 4-5hours.  In addition, after the workout I get a good dose endorphins, so I\'m feeling a bit euphoric.

I\'ve found that unisom works, and also slap\'n the tummy tickler doesn\'t hurt.

ya its better if you work out early in the day if you want to be tired later on so you can fall asleep, in your case you are just getting your body pupmed up so it will not want to sleep

Warm chocolate milk really works.  Then climb into bed and get yourself really warm.  Another thing to try is to eat something.  You know how after a huge feast you feel tired?  Same concept.  Also what I find most helpful is to sleep on the side of your body that you usually don\'t sleep on.  Usually I sleep on my right side.  If I can\'t sleep I sleep either on my right or on my stomach.  It gets you uber comfortable.  You can also try to put a pillow or part of the blanket between your knees.  It\'s supposed to make your spine align, and it\'s also hella comfortable too.  Sleeping at the end of your bed might work.  You can try put on some Enya.  If all else fails you can buy a copy of "Gone with the Wind" or "War and Peace" or better yet, "Ivanhoe" try reading that and getting bored.  Then again, any old textbook could do that too.

When I can\'t sleep, I just stay awake for the entire night.  Then when I get off work the next day, I go straight home and go straight to sleep.  Then I find that my sleeping schedule is fixed.  The only problem is weekends because I tend to sleep in until 4 in the afternoon, and once I do that, Sunday night/Monday mornings just become hell all over again.
blah blah blah, blah blah blah
