Hey can some explain this to me.  For online console gaming, wouldnt you need 2 Broadband connections/56k connections in order to have you PC hooked up and PS2 at the same time.

So basically you would need 2 internet connections.  I can easily see that with 56k, but DSL/cable modem..no way.  Unless you plan to constantly disconnect and reconnect.

Ever heard of Hubs? If your cable/DSL provider or whatever gives you multible IPs (for each computer 1), then you can use a hub to connect multiple pc\'s to one modem. The bandwidth of course will be split accoardingly, but you can still use \'em.

Lets leave our opinions to ourselves ... only warning

It was a legitimate question, and if you have a problem with someone who occasionally partakes in smoking marijuana then you  have a major problem with freedoms of choice

keep theese types of opinions to yourself if you cannot be contructive about them, or start a debate about it in the offt topic section

Not only that, but no where in this thread was there any comments in regards to drug use

My D-link makes its own IP\'s and only gives Roadrunner (MY Cablemodem ISP) the IP that they gave me......and it makes other IP\'s for my other 2 pcs (My dads and Bros). They dont care either........we asked........

If you have a router but only have one IP address that is provided by your ISP you are still OK right? I am going to have to do some networking for the PC I am about to build, my PS2, my Xbox and my GCN. A router is what I need right?

yer router will assume yer WAN IP

then it will subnet to a private range, commonly 192.168.254.xxx

the router will assign IP numbers in that range to any device you plug into it.  you just have to open up the specific ports

Yeah I know about additional ports on DSL/Roadrunner.  So basically you would be splitting the bandwidth on the PC and the console.  Wouldn\'t that cause some problems though?

Anyone who really knows this stuff, your knowledge is very appreciated.  I dont know much about bandwidth.  I just got DSL which I only use for my PC but plan to hook up my PS2 to it.
