Something that pisses me off about XBOX

Ok, first off. I think XBOX is a great console and everything but I do have a few beefs with it.

Now everybody talks about graphics, textures, etc...blah,blah
Yet since XBOX primarily displays at 640x480 all the potential beauty it has to offer cannot be seen. For instance say I get HALO online, UT and SEGA GT. On a regular TV graphic wise, they are nothing special to me. I want crisp, clean graphics, not some blur up piece of ****.(errr) MS needs to come out with an official VGA adaptor. Now I know some companies have come out with independent HDTV to VGA adapters, but even they have they short comings, one being price $180-250 US, while they still are not to par with VGA standards.

I can no longer stand playing console games with low res, unless I have a 53 inch HDTV, which I cannot afford.


Also this brings up another topic, I personally feel games can be taken to a whole new level with a good surround sound system and a BIG screen or even better a projector. I found playing halo or whatever game on this set-up, allowed me to become allot more involved in the game. In other words I felt like I was part of the game, as if I was there.

Anyhow what is your thoughts on this guys?????????

Graphics don\'t matter that much to me.  I know they can be displayed as sharper, clearer images, but I never get hung up on the possibilites.  I just play them on my TV and be happy, old skool-style.

I hear ya, I Realize there many people out there whom are quite content with playing games in 640x480 and if it works for you then all the power to you bro.

Although the way I see it, We are living in the new millennium the technology is here, therefore I would like it if game companies would take advantage of it.

I have been a PC gamer for many years now, for the past 3 years playing games like UT, MM, etc.. in high res I can never go back. Heck my Dreamcast had a VGA adaptor, I was always playing my DC games on my 21 SONY Trinitron monitor.

Also like I said earlier sound to me is just as important as picture quality. It\'s a shame most people don\'t have high quality Dolby Digital surround sound systems for there XBOX.

I love my HDTV.

yeah, the graphics dont mean much when it comes to value
gameplay is more important, graphics are just a limitation most times

the xbox is a great little (big) console that will never reach its potential.  sony is just too strong

What upsets me is that this hardware has so much potential and can do so many great things, and yet because they are an underdog, they are not being utilized to its fullest.  The PS2 is fine and all, the GC is good, but there are some things the XBox can do that the others cant and it upsets me that for how much it costs to build this thing, and how much it costs to buy, there are no games that utilize it to the extremes that I am expecting.

Is your complaint here that not enough games are utilizing surround sound?  I knox Halo has surround sound and thats great, but how many other big XBox games utilise this??  I for one know that playing Medal of Honor on a big screen TV was absolutely amazing.  Particularly the first level (we had the volume up so loud i wonder what the neighboors were thinking :eek: )  And it made my usual gaming experience of sitting in front of a tiny Sony Trinitron from the ****ing 18th century with a tiny tiny little speaker pale in comparison.  But just because a game doesnt utilise proper surround sound surely that doesnt mean that your set up would go to waste.  How many games really need surround sound anyway?  Munch?  Project Gotham?  Halo for sure would be enhanced.  And imagine Splinter Cell with surround sound, man that could add to the experience.

what gets me about the xbox zealots is that thier too frickin hostile.

ps2 and gc fans might be a bit stubborn in thier ways, but look at some of the fools that slink here from the xbox forums, uGh
