I wasn\'t insinuating that.  I was sincerely interested in how other countries deal with immigrants.  I am not a world traveler (YET).  

And I didn\'t notice anyone being racist.  Except against the Aussies of course.

When I lived in Germany as a student, I had to report to the german equivalent of our Immigration service on a regular basis.  They called it the Auslandsamt.  Every few months I was supposed to get my Aufenthaltserlaubnis renewed so I could legally stay in their country.  Every time I went there I had to wait in a smoke filled room of Turkish people for several hours in order to have a 5 minute conversation with a german woman who always found some way of asking for a form or letter I didn\'t have.  It felt like a scene out of "The Midnight Express" or something.  All I wanted to do was kill time in their country spending MY OWN MONEY in their economy, and they kept hassling me.  I wasn\'t trying to work, or receive government benefits, or cost their taxpayers ANYTHING.  I really learned something about what its like to be an outsider and treated as a nonentity in the country where you\'re living.

Eventually I got so fed up with it, I skipped my last appointment, and spent my final 3 months in the country illegally.  I decided there\'s no way the police would figure out I was illegal and come looking for me before I would be leaving on my own.  It seems their whole government ran on paper forms and rubber stamps, not computers, so I wasn\'t worried about it.  Sometimes I wonder if I\'ll show up on some kind of list if I ever go back there.

Anyone else ever have an encounter with some hispanics where they make fun of you because you speak don\'t speak spanish? I remember lots of occasions where some latino guys would be like, "Hey, you chicano?"

And I always say the same thing, "Nope. I\'m hispanglo."

Ha ha...they\'d always get all pissed off and be like, "Eh, I bet you don\'t even speak spanish?" When I would reply that I couldn\'t, always, always, they\'d laugh like it was the funniest thing ever. Psh,  whatever guys, I speak the language I\'m supposed to. This isn\'t Mexico or Spain. The primary language here is ENGLISH. Not that theres anything wrong with being able to speak spanish (I wish I could ), but laughing at people because they don\'t, and they live in America, is just plain stupid. This made life in New Mexico particulary difficult...

Or maybe they want into USA to go on Jerry Springer and marry a sister or horse,not many places that will let you do that.
