There is a crowd in PGA play.  How is it different trying to kick a ball accurately a long distance, and hitting a ball accurately a long distance.  Besides, those people who are trying to get to the kicker rarely get there.

I just find the idea that you would not consider Golf a sport stupid.

Does golf not follow this definition?

When your playing non professional football with friends or whatever you don\'t take time between plays. Everyone lines up then goes out for a pass.

Ok, the guys rarely get there. But still, it has to be pretty hard to kick it accuratly over guys trying to block your kick. In golf, there is silence, and nobody is in your way.

Meh, that\'s what the dictionary says. Sure, it could be classified as a sport, but it isn\'t in my book.

Well, then that\'s in your book, and it\'s your problem.  It is classified as, and generally known as a sport though.

I would think Golf is a sport or a hobby. Wouldn\'t it depend on the person playing?

Fayded, you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.

Do you have any clue how tiring it is to play 18 holes walking?  It takes several miles to walk a course.

Baseball on the other hand.  You go, get into your position and just hang out there until some hits the ball in your general area.  Then you run to the ball, throw it, and walk back the somewhere between 10\' and 50\' back to your position.

Golf is definitely a sport.  ANyone who says it isn\'t just doesn\'t get the game and that\'s too bad.

Now bowling on the other hand we can debate.  hehehe.

Well, all the times I played a round of 18 I didn\'t feel the need to go home and sleep. But that\'s just me.

In baseball, when the ball gets hit towards you it\'s generally going pretty fast. The infielders have to have a quick reaction time, snag a ball that can take a weird bounce, then make an accurate throw to get the runner out. So it\'s not as easy as you make it sound.

Id have to say that any sport(including golf) where competitive activity is present, qualifies it as a sport.

A) You have to go home and sleep after a ball game?  Only if it puts you to sleep from boredom.

B) The difference between Tiger\'s swing and Phil Mickelson\'s swing is miniscual, but look at the difference in abilities.  Golf is a hell of a sport.  Both physical and mental.  It takes a hell of a person to be successful in golf.  Back before Tiger entered the picture you really didn\'t know who was going to win the tournament.  It could be any number of about 20 people.  Now you are a total idiot if you don\'t pick Tiger to win a major.  Other tournaments are different because he often times uses them to try things in getting ready for different holes in one of the majors.  That is the important thing.

C) Were you drunk?
