Have you heard the new song done by Metallica and Ja Rule?

Its not bad, and thats coming from a person who dispises rap.  But the Metallica riffs in it are enough to bring me to like the song.

What interests me more about the song is that the riffs in it (which kick ass) are from Metallica\'s upcoming album.

Metallica actually didnt have much to do with this song.  A producer aproached them and asked if he could use a past Met song and add some rap to it.  Metallica instead asked him if he wanted to use some stuff off their new album that no one had heard before.  The producer was all for that so he chose some of their riffs off the new album and got Ja Rule to add some lyrics.  Metallica was present for the mixing of the song and James added a line or two of lyrics.

The song itself actually sounds like two different songs, its not the greatest, but its decent.  As I already stated I love the heavy riffs in it.  Lars discussed the new album and he said it was really heavy and less bluesy than their last two "load" and "re-load" which some Metallica fans disliked.

WAKE UP SLEEPY ONE

During a Tuesday morning conversation between Lars and management, Lars was informed of a disc jockey in Hartford, CT that had been playing nothing but Metallica songs for over 17 hours straight. This DJ was holding the radio station "hostage" till someone from the band called him to discuss their involvement in the Swizz Beats/Ja Rule song. So, instead of starting the daily studio routine, Lars picked up the phone and called the sleep deprived DJ. Not only was the Swizz Beats/Ja Rule collaboration discussed, but Lars also spoke about the recording of the new album and revealed some interesting details. To listen to the interview in it\'s entirety, click HERE to download it from Radio104 WMRQ website.

I\'m a huge Metallica fan but I can\'t stand any of their new stuff.  And with Ja Rule being the worst rapper in the business, in my eyes.  I don\'t think I\'ll be to big of a fan.

When you say "new stuff" do you mean "Load" and "Re-load"?

becuase i have loved everything Metallica has made...Those two albums just took a little bit more listening to enjoy them, they werent immediate hits to me like their previous albums.

And this is just one song.  if you listen to it the riffs are killer and they are off their new album!  It sounds a lot like older Metallica.

I haven\'t cared for Metallica since after their Black album. I think they\'re a bunch of sellout marketing puppets who are to afraid to loose their precious fame. This latest move dosen\'t help to improve that image any either. There\'s ways to break out of the mold and expand you\'re musical variance without having to be stuck snapping at the music industry\'s heels they way they are. Really, it just makes them look pathetic imo.

Their old albums were FAR better than the newer ones. Ride The Lighting, Master of Puppets, and Kill \'em All were all good.

I might download this song if I ever get bored enough to.

he may be the worst rapper but his songs really crack me up especially the one he did with j.lopez when at the start he say\'s "It....Must....Be....The.....A$$".
but back to metallica i think all their previous albums were pretty good especially "S&M" hope the new one is as good.

Well Load and Re-Load were a lot different compared to their older albums.  They weren\'t bad but weren\'t nearly as good.  Of course I\'ll still listen to this upcoming cd.

I couldnt agree more :) Metallica before Black Album was good music. Now, I dont care what they release anymore. When u see old metal bands like Iron Maiden, still releasing amazing albums (Brave new world) and still play it in their old style... it makes me so happy :)

He doesn\'t really rap anymore... He\'s been doing the whole singing thing since that song with Mary J. I\'ll be surprised if he raps on this one.

I thought Metallica started going down hill ever since they released the "Black" album.  Crap like Sandman and Unforgiven?:p  I like Master of Puppets, Justice, and Ride the Lightning.  Metallica used to be my favorite band, but now they are burned out.  All bands start to suck after so many years like Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, etc.
