"To draw a little more attention..."

That said it all.  And that\'s why they\'re doing it.  Eminem has said  that he doesn\'t truly believe half the things he says in songs--he says them to draw a little more attention and make a little more money.  Because without the controversy, Eminem would be Vanilla Ice.

There is no integrity in that.  It\'s gratuitous; there is no need for it.  If it truly had great gameplay it wouldn\'t need the titappeal because people would buy it.  Instead, Tecmo is cashing in, trying to make all the money they can.  It\'s slimy.

Without it, he just be another rapper...he would be part of the norm.

So have we completely ruled out the idea that it could have good gameplay?  As I said, it\'s complimentary to the game at hand...and appropriate.

About as appropriate as going to the beach and seeing women in bikinis...perhaps playing volleyball.

No it could be good.

Go to the beach, you\'ll find that men and hideously unattractive women enjoy volleyball too.

SonyFan...

I think the DOA series sells on 2 other premises...

The left one and the right one...

:p
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

No, I\'m making the point that Tecmo isn\'t so interested in making a Volleyball game as they are in making many sweaty nights for young hormone crazed boys.

I\'m going to have to completely agree with Watchdog on his views of DOA: Volleyball.

I mean, sure, some might overlook the sexual nature of the game and take for granted that it is indeed a Volleyball game.

But, I doubt I\'m gonna hear in the store if this game is running, "Hey look! It\'s a volleyball game! Cool!"

More like

"Check out the tits on her! What\'s the jump button??!?!? *laugh laugh laugh*"

They really could\'ve made this game less sexually targeted, and not emphasize apon the fact that the DOA series had a killer tit physics engine.

Again, these are my views and opinions. Don\'t like them, tough.
You think positive, I\'ll think realistic.

I really do hope you\'re joking as I think it\'s completely far fetched to think someone would buy a volleyball game for "thrills".

Watchdog summed most of it up.

Tecmo isn\'t making a volleyball game, it\'s making a hot women jump out and down and throwing some sort of ball in there at some stage.  Most likely a volleyball.

When they sat down to make the game, do you really think that making a great volleyball game that people could really enjoy because they will have unique gameplay aspects and physics and the like was their main priority?  No.  They sat down at a meeting and said "How can we make some money.  Hmm, I know, putting the.. get this Dead or Alive girls.. into some sort of WET T-SHIRT GAME!!!!".. Then somewhere along the line it changed into a volleyball game

Lol Ginko!  Haha.  jm hit the nail on the head: when people first play this game they are indeed going to go searching for the jump button, or figuring out ways to get the most bounce for their bucks or endlessly playing replays in ultra slo-mo.

It\'s shameful.

Sega made a very fine Tennis game.  There are no bouncing boobs, no scantily clan women, no shower sequences.  They play tennis, that\'s the selling point.

You look at a trailer for this stupid game and you\'ll see how many good depictions of volleyball?  How many rallies are you seeing from angles that don\'t best show off their bounce engine?  How many gameplay mechanics are being displayed?

Now, how many bouncing tits are shown?  How many slow camera pans up a model?  How many lustful shots?

You are only kidding yourself.

I\'m not questioning Tecmo\'s motives...

They made a volleyball game with women in bikinis...what\'s so wrong with that?  It\'s neither inappropriate or out of character for a volleyball game...

Kidding myself on what?  I haven\'t ruled out the possibility that the game will suck...

If it has good gameplay, as good as the other v-ball games, which one will you want?

I\'d take the one that doesn\'t cater to poor saps who have to jack off to video games.  Thanks.

And I\'ve played lots of VB games, and none of them have been this base and classless.  So, yes it is innappropriate.  Plus, the beaches I go to do not have 16 year old girls, with tits bigger than their heads, playing volleyball in bikinis.  Actually, I see MANY more men playing than women.

The only time I saw women like that playing VB was in a porno movie, and I have more respect for the makers of that movie because at least they are upfront of what they are doing.  They weren\'t trying to pass their movie off as a documentary about VB.

So what we have established in this thread is that a company should now go for moral decency and not release a game if it has  sexual themes? I\'m confused. I thought the videogame industry was just that ...an industry . Last time I checked the name of the game was to sell ungodly amount of games and last time I checked...sex sells! So, what exactly is wrong with Tecmo using the sex sells fact to do what a business does, which is sell games?
I\'m not concerned with the moral decency of a company. I look at them all the same. They are out to make money, end of story.  I think some of you forgot that this is indeed an actual industry where the main theme is making money.

Nobody is going to buy a 50$ v-ball game for cheap thrills when a playboy is a fraction of the price.:p

Okay, let\'s say Tecmo comes through and delivers a worthwhile v-ball game that\'s actually in contest with the others...let\'s even say it\'s a cut above the rest in regards to gameplay.  You would pass it up based on the "gratuitous" motives of the developers?
