CHICAGO -- The Chicago Sun-Times reported Wednesday that a Champaign, Ill., mother who appeared on "Good Morning America" breast-feeding her 8-year-old son while he read from a Harry Potter book could be investigated by the Department of Children and Family Services -- again.
The newspaper report said a representative from DCFS was "noncommittal" about whether the agency would reopen a case against the mother, who identified herself and her son publicly for the first time during the morning show appearance.
Lynn Stuckey\'s son was placed in foster care last year after a caretaker of the child told authorities that the child was still breast-feeding and that his mother was sleeping with him in the nude.
Stuckey told prosecutors she did not force her child to nurse and that she was not gaining sexual pleasure from the experience. She said she would allow her son to continue breast-feeding until he weans himself. She also said she felt breast-feeding might be inappropriate when a child reaches his teens.
Stuckey also claimed her son had not been teased at school or in their neighborhood and she did not believe that she was causing him emotional harm.
But prosecutors did not share that feeling after finding out about Stuckey\'s TV appearance.
"To me it\'s just absolutely unbelievable that she\'s doing that ... Her conduct doesn\'t hurt me or the Champaign County court system (that reunited her with her child last year) nearly as much as it does the true victim, which is her own child," Champaign County State\'s Attorney John Piland told reporters.
