Anybody use auctions to sell stuff?
« on: July 13, 2002, 12:31:04 AM »
I\'m thinking about selling my laptop, so that I can get a new desktop, but am a little weary about selling on the online auctions, anyone have experience selling on these things?  And if so, what place was it?

I\'ve used the Danish version of QXL.com to great extent. Always worked like a charm. But really, there\'s always a risk involved - the person who buys from you can be a cheater or just plain annoying. So always go for people with feedback, if possible (I guess that applies more to when buying, but oh well).

I haven\'t sold but I bought some months ago. The experience was not all fine I thought in the beginning, so my advice is "be careful with auctions."

I\'ve bought off of e-bay, hell I did all my X-mas shopping on there.  I\'m just a novice when it comes to selling.

I\'ve never used an auction. Let alone ebay.

But I would imagine you could probably make some good money off of your laptop if its nice enough. I suggest you post its system specs and some pictures if possible. If people aren\'t bidding up to your requirements, just try another time I guess.

Half is good, they have nice prices. My friend bought all this stuff for his PC and didn\'t make his wallet run dry.

Actually, my mom sold a laptop on ebay once.  She was really satisfied with it.  Just set a reserve at what you want to sell it for, and hope someone reaches it.  If not, just list it again, and maybe lower the reserve a bit.  Not such a bad system.  We\'ve sold a lot of stuff on it, and never had a problem.

Ebay is really nice. I use it alot. Just bought MX Superfly off it. Even though the guy decided to be an ass and wait a little while to ship it, i still got it and all was fine. I just wrote bad feedback, tee hee. And if someone wins an auction and doesn\'t pay, there\'s this one thing that you can do to make the person not be able to bid on anything. Most people on ebay are very good sellers and buyers though, but there is the 2% that are asses.

You just have to look at the feedback the person has gotten.  If they have good feed back, you probably have nothing to worry about.  Especially if you\'re selling.
