I\'m not a fan of splitting the forum. Mods just need to not care, and delete what needs to be deleted. Thats why I think its crazy to vote Soulgrind as most hated mod/worst because he\'s actually the best.

The fact that there are too many forums, and not enough people that actually care about saving Off-Topic.  When Console Debating was split, there was a group of dedicated people who truely believed the boards (or at least that section) could be saved and resurrected to what it once was.  There is no such thing in Off-Topic.  And frankly, theres no point.

Just continue what you are doing.  Every now and again the old members will have an outburst such as this.  But other than that you are free to spam unfettered. :)

However I would wonder just what would happen to Off-Topic if (like after the Spaminators incident) no posts actually counted towards your post count :eyemouth:

Why does everyone say that the mods have to be more stringent?  they have to close more threads, they have to do this they have to that.  it\'s rediculous.  OT can be saved, but it will not be done by the mods, it will be done by the members that truely love these boards.

Let\'s face it most people spam in order to pad their post counts.  why would you want to pad your post count?  well among other things, you recieve more recognition and respect the higher your post count (in theory), but if we take it into our own hands and degrade those members who post useless garbage, and punish them with a social chastisement, it could curb the spamming a bit.  And after the member has been repromanded, leave it at that and stop posting in their thread.  If you see that someone ahead of you has already done so, don\'t post, just let the thread die.  Or if someone spams in a quality thread, inform them of their stupidity, and ignore them.

Also, we have to censor ourselves.  Instead of just hitting the quick response button as fast as possible, why not read your post over, check and make sure that it actually adds to the discusion and doesn\'t just add to your post count.

However OT may be too far gone, and people no longer care.  I might just be rambling on, and my ramblings are falling upon deaf ears, who are content in their current situation.  However, if you do truely care about OT, and want to save it from drowning in a pool of it\'s own ignorance, I emplore all of you to do all that you can to stop the incecent spamming.

Now, I say you should put your cop avatar back on.

I wasn\'t here to see how the boards used to be, so I can\'t say if it sucks or not. But I still think posting to get your post count higher is pretty dumb. So, I suppose, we shall listen to theomen.

i know it\'s unlikely to happen, but much like the enviromental problem, people say to themselves "I can\'t make a difference", and continue on their normal ways.  But I have a bit of hope that these members will hopefully try to make a difference.

And even if  they won\'t stop all their spamming ways, maybe with the resurgence of a few quality posters the spammers will check themselves from time to time.

Personally I\'m really thinking about staying away from these forums for awhile, and see if they take a change for the better.  At the very least I\'m going to limit my posts to a minimum.  Maybe just comeback every once in awhile to yell at spammers.

Who are these most interesting members who don\'t post in OT?  And if they can\'t stand reading the topics, then make up ones that you would like to read.

And about the penis comparisons..  Dude, if you aren\'t the pot calling the kettle black then I don\'t know freaking what else is.  9 out of 10 posts you are talking about sticking it to Samwise or Racer.  Practice what you preach or don\'t bitch about it.

I agree for the most part.  Although Soulgrind closed a thread of me asking advice about getting a roof.  If that wasn\'t ridiculous then well maybe what is more ridiculous is two days later him posting a thread about what hard drive to buy.

I am all for deleteing useless threads, but what may be useless to you may not be useless to someone else.

Again uncle pot.  You sure are black...

I totally agree that a lot of this crap is truly annoying, but I don\'t think really any of the moderators can come down on spammers because they do it themselves as well.

Just PM people when they go nuts and they will settle down.  If not then bobbie you can just take them into the back room and beat them with your extremely large, unused penis.

I didn\'t mean literally you big nutbag.  The general attitude of the board reflects that of a highschool.  Your\'e smart Vid, I\'m sure you don\'t need me to be pointing this out for you.

Trust me, if the \'top administration\' was set on a no spam policy in OT, they would get it. But they\'re not so people can spam away to their hearts desire. With the loss of quality that natually occurs. Oh and,

I agree!

How does it make matters worse? Quick reply or no "QR"..people are still going to spam if they want to.

Ive also just thought about a simple solution to spamming. MOst spammers only care about post count..why not just remove some posts form their count..or even give them negative numbers :) We do that at other message boards I frequent..

Just a thought

The motivation behind spamming on this board is not rocket science.  Like theomen was saying, we\'re practically encouraged to spam.

thanks

I\'m not flaming any mods or admins, just pointing out the reward system for spam.  It\'s like giving your puppy a treat every time it shits on the carpet, then wondering why the hell the dog isn\'t potty trained.

Freezing post counts probably isn\'t a good idea, judging from the uproar of several months ago.  If post counts really aren\'t important, stop issuing incentives, and deny members access to the top-posters page.

Partly true. But there was a time when you could only get a picture if you got 500 AND did not spam.

I have said this numerous times.  Rewards should be based on time and or acknowledgement from Mods that you are an important part of the forum.  Not freaking posts.

There are people out there who are posting good stuff, but just don\'t post often.  They should be able to get a picture based on quality of posts.

I had no reason to spam, I\'m already over 2000.

I didn\'t spam to piss people off.  I was just bored.

And it just so happened everyone else was on vacation or something that very day at that very moment.
