I am about to upgrade my PC to the following

666MHz Pentium III ---> 1.8GHz Pentium IV
GeForce2 ---> GeForce4
Lousy CD drive ---> Good DVD drive
8GB hard disk ---> 80GB hard disk

I am not entirely sure if my motherboard accepts Pentium IV. How can I see if it does?

Pentium 4\'s require whole new motherboards since they operate on different bus\' and use difference ram.  You\'ll need new ram and a new motherboard if you plan to upgrade to a pentium 4.  I can help with type if you need any recommendations.  Also, make sure your case can fit the new motherboard as well.

yeah, unless you\'ve got a decent system, you might be better off going completely new.

My motherboard will handle P4\'s, but maybe I will buy a P5 mother board... we\'ll see :)

The Pentiums don\'t shine until they\'ve reached 2Ghz and over, until then price and performance wise the Athlon\'s would be a better choice. But a sub 2Ghz P4 simply isn\'t worth the money.

Keep in mind that you need a new power supply preferably a new case for the P4\'s.
