Friend borrows something, and loses it, what to do???

He borrows my tennis raquet, and its been about a month now. I was doin this to him as a favor. Well I im him today and he says he sold it, cuz he really needed beer, and is making it seem like it was my fault for not coming and getting it, regardless, he\'s not really my friend anymore, but what should I do???
