Need help about a virus
« on: July 29, 2002, 08:11:25 PM »
My sisters computer got a virus and it was sent through an email. She claims everytime she tries to open up a file or program it will not run and show an error.

What can she do to get rid of this virus????

Was she running a antivirus program? She should be.. And if she\'s not, she should bring it down the comp store and see if they can do something about it.

I got VBSLoveLetter and re-formatted. I still thought I could get by with a McAfee Virus Scanner from 97\'.

I just pulled the ol\' wallet out and got a Norton Virus Scanner 2002. Its worth it, this thing is constantly on the lookout.

yep, i\'m on Norton VS 2002.. Good program, I just make sure to update my definitions every week to 10 days..

Square_Maker, if you do have a Virus that\'s corrupting your .EXE files. Then you are better off formating as avvy said.. It\'s pretty hard to remove a virus that sits in exe files. You can\'t delete or remove viruses from files that are running.. :(

Norton Anti Virus is the best, I\'m running 2001 version but it is fully updated and does the job, I get loads of virus\'s from email but it cuts them out all the time and removes them. Im also running Norton Personal firewall so I feel pretty safe while surfing.

Yes, Norton Antivirus is the best. I tried to install 2002 ver but it says I must uninstall the previous version, but there is not previous version !! GRR.

I had a feeling it was the Klez virus. I get at least 7 emails a day with that same stupid virus.  It\'s actually a worm, and what it does is it goes through your address book and sends itself to everyone on it.  The best thing to do is update your Norton software. In my opinion, it is the absolute best virus software out there.
