Mets made some last minute moves, getting starter John Thomson from the Rockies, and reliever Steve Reed from the Padres.  These moves should help to solidify their pitching staff, and give them more depth for their stretch run.

The NL Wild Card race should be interesting with the Giants, Dodgers, Mets, Reds, and Astros all in the hunt. I think the Reds will slowly fade, and I think the Astros and Mets will keep inching closer. So basically i think it\'ll be a tight race that\'ll go down to the last week, maybe even a one game playoff. Who knows. But then again, none of this will probably ever happen due to the strike. :rpissed:

Payton was the main player.  He went to Colorado in the Thomson trade.  They also sent Mark Corey and a minor leaguer to Colorado, and got Mark Little along with Thomson.  They gave up Steve Reed and Jason Middlebrook to the Padres for Reed and two minor leaguers.

I see no reason why the Reds would fade, and a team full of unproven players like the Dodgers wouldn\'t.

And the Red Sox don\'t make the playoffs.  Just have a feeling ;)
