If you all want to really know why Australia was used as a prison colony it was actually because when Captain Cook discovered Australia in 1770, he seen it as a desolt place (he thought it was all desert, but didn\'t realise it was so big). They sent ex convicts over here to start afresh. They basically didn\'t want the convicts back in English society.
