I disagree with that.  I think seeing that site wouldn\'t put those types of things into perspective for me in that way.  It\'s all relative.  If you\'re the one being hurt by crime, or stuck doing a tremendous amount of work, it is a big thing to you.  Depending on your prior and even current experiences with such things, I don\'t think you would ever put them into perspective in that way.  Send someone who\'s family was murdered or send a rape victim into space, and have them tell you crime is insignificant.

Well, perhaps not crime per say then. But it would let you realize how insignificant MOST problems are (and how insignificant you are to the world).

Really that wouldn\'t be too bad.  It would be different to see our moon going around some odd miles away from us.

I guess that I still disagree with the whole insignificant thing.  Infact, I think that in ways, viewing the world like that shows me how significant one can be.  You see just how huge the world is, and how many people must be on it.  The fact is, one man, if he does the right things, can touch everyone out there.  Invent something important, make political changes, do something important, and you can effect everything you see in that picture.  That doesn\'t make me feel insignificant. :)

Im not trying to commit suicide,  lets get that straight.

It just awed me that somebody would commit suicide after seeing the Earth from the moon.  What a sight it must be!

My point is that the human mind can\'t really render the size of the Universe.  And when you see just a small part of it,  it may drive you crazy.  Just take the size of Jupiter for instance.  At night,  replace the moon with Jupiter.  Jupiter would take up the entire sky!

If you traveled 5,878,000,000,000 miles a year it would take you like 1,000 years to travel across the Milky Way Galaxy.  And there are BILLIONS of Galaxys!

So don\'t think of things in those terms.  Why does it matter how vast the universe is, the fact is that will probably never make any real difference to you.  The Universe could be infinite, but what will that ever matter?  All that really is important to us is what we will come into contact with.  Or something like that...

And do we know for sure that he killed himself for those reasons?  Did he say that in a suicide note or something?
