I guess when you realize you\'re just a nothing, you figure you have no reason to live.

But how can you think you are nothing.  Why does it matter how large the universe is?  That doesn\'t change what is here on earth, and what is around you.  It doesn\'t change the things you know and use here.  So why does it matter?

If anything, I\'d think it would fill one with hope.

Well, if he used sleeping pills it wouldn\'t be much of a sight. Perhaps it he used a chainsaw?

The guy thought something like "What am I doing everyday?  Working?  Why work?"

It was sort of like if you had a near death experience.  Everything becomes so insignificant to you.  Some bill collector about to take your house?  You dont care anymore.  Your favorite team lost the Super Bowl?  You dont care anymore.  You lost a $100 bill?  Doesnt matter.

He didnt care about anything anymore.  He may have thought "What are we doing here on Earth?"

He saw how insignificant he was in the Universe.  He realized there was more then the grass and mountains he had seen on the Earth.  When he saw the Earth from space,  he went into a nervouse breakdown,  eventually comitting suicide.

I myself would love to see Earth from space,  but Im not sure if I would be able to take it.  Anybody else want to go to Space and look down upon Earth?

You will never be the same

I would like to see it from space. I definitly wouldn\'t go into a nervous breakdown. But only a few astronauts had nervous breakdowns. Not all of them do.
