Ok..So I just saw all of neon genesis evangelion and....

Could someone please please please tell me what the hell just happened?
I am so confused.
They did not explain the ending sufficiently.

This show kind of looked weird to me.  Was it any good?

It depends on what you watched.  The ending of the films is different from the ending of the series.

It was the series.
The ending just completely baffled me.
So what happened?

P.S. Man, Xenogears ripped that story off so hardcore.

Well It\'s a little hard to explian but it\'s like once the last angel was defeated Shinji sorta flipped out and then they put their plans for the third impact into high gear and began the human instrumentality project in full swing and in the end shinji realized that he was somebody and didn\'t need to Eva\'s to feel loved by his father and have friends and be usefull.  He learned that though his own belief and the belief of others he was worth something and life was worth living and that\'s why everyone was happy for him......

Now as for the "Movies" A.K.A the alternate ending to Eva that\'s exactly what they are.  It shows what really happens meaning shiji realized indeed he was a worthless piece of shiznit and then the true battle for humanity begins...I won\'t ruin the movie but if you want a clearer understanding of eva watch "The End of Evangelion" when it comes out this September.  Skip the crappy "Death and Rebirth" because it\'s nothing more than a recap of the entire series with the first 30min of the movie but Manga botched the dvd anyway so just wait till sept;)

You ask 10 different people about the ending(s) to Eva, and you\'ll get at least 12 different responses.

Effectively, the endings to Evangelion are what you make of them.
With the end of the series, it seems that Shinji accepts Insturmentality.
With End of Eva, he appears to reject Insturmentality as being a cop-out.  IMO, this happens after his apparent acceptance in the series.  He realizes how fake it all is.  How false his happiness is.  He realizes that, despite everything that\'s happened to him, it\'s more important to be a depressed human than a mindlessly happy puddle of LCL.
