I don\'t think that\'s the only problem. Buying a name is not as hard as making sure all the minds that helped establish a name come with it or at least not go somewhere else soon after the deal is sealed. Maybe what happened when MS stated their efforts to buy out Sega and Square fell through due to becoming \'too complicated\'.

Anyway, it sounds as if PS3 is moving along right on time :cool:

Why shouldnt they?The name PlayStation is the most reckognised console name.I expect the next "PlayStation" to have the same name with no 3 next to it for the same obvious reasons the second one kept the "PlayStation" name and logo.

I hope they\'re going with PS3. I see no need to choose a silly cryptic name like Xbox, Dolphin, Project Midway or whatever.

Playstation .. short and it explains what it is.. A Play Station :)
a three indicates that its the third in the series.

I don’t think Sony will ditch the most recognized console name right now.
PlayStation now = Consoles
Before it used to be Nintendo = Consoles

I also think they should keep the PlayStation name. Who cares if it\'s "not original" - it\'s a really well-known brandname, and PS3 just sounds cool to me...

I nintendo took a hint from Sony and went from NES SNES  N64 to Gamecube.  It plays games and it\'s a cube.

I too believe keeping Playstation 3 as the name is going to be the most effective way to see the console.

They are no doubt going to call it the PlayStation 3. Their sales probably would be impacted because people would think it\'s a different console. Just my two cents.

I don\'t really like this whole parallel computing thing that Sony invisions, I don\'t plan on playing anything online.

And how exactly are they going to expect to be able to calculate information in real time over the internet?
