Being paid to promote a product... on a MB!
« on: August 09, 2002, 07:04:21 PM »
wow.. I think we at psxnation have uncovered something crazy
It seems that advertising companies are messaging people on "big" message boards, and offer to PAY them to advertise and promote their product on the respective board.

Has anybody heard of this before?

it may explain people.. like pstwo (no offense if your just that crazy) who seem to promote games like crazy (Enclave GOTY 2002) which is probably a MS bought timed exclusive..

This may end up being something very interesting, and cause us to reevaluate the people around us.

More on this when we uncover it.

To be fair, the company we uncovered that was doing this that is so far out in the open, but not fully confirmed, is a advertising firm that sony hired and regarding the gameh SOCOM (which they will also pay them to help "populate" the game).

its interesting indeed

Hehe, Nintendo doesn\'t have to pay me to endorse their products.. their appeal is quite evident. ;)

I just point it out to th\' disbelievers!

Obviously, you can\'t be a spin-dcotor...

Just say you were talking about his face cheek and not the butt cheek...

Simple...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Shining-Knuckle in the main forum advertising SOCOM perhaps?  He\'s started a number of threads and only ever replies to the SOCOM ones..

Although he was obvious the minute he got here :)

Think you\'ll find they call it Viral Marketing, nothing new. They\'ve even used children at Primary Schools to promote certain toys to others with this type of marketing. So people on message boards getting paid for this stuff doesn\'t surprise me at all.

Its a necessary evil.

BTW, Madden is coming out tomorrow in stores everywhere. Be sure to pick it up. It will include new features like mini-camp mini-games and an updated franchise mode. EA is looking to capitalize on the success of Madden 2002 by making a product that will outshine all of its competitors. By the looks of things, they have succeeded.

EA Sports Madden 2003
In Stores July 13.
MSRP $49.99

I know of this annoying X-bot at IGN who said he got paid to advertise for Xbox.
He creates more hate than advertisement though ;)
