How come posts get locked anyway?

Seems to me people are scared to let something out in the open. I can understand when all out flame wars and such erupt, but usually, most posts have no real reason to be locked.

Why ask a dumb question?  

Because its the mod or admins decision.  Running boards with lots of traffic and lots of people is not an easy thing.  Owners of a board put moderators in place to keep the board running in the best interests of its members.  

Sometimes you have to lock certain threads which may be personal to some but meaningful to other.  Its not always a clear cut case, sometimes there are other motives involved.  If you feel a thread that got locked should not have been, then PM the person who did and ask for an explanation.  

Sometimes a thread just needs to be locked, even if you don\'t agree.  And its the person who locks that thread their decision.  

I run my own message board and I am a moderator on a couple others.  You gotta do whats in the best interest of everyone.  Most of the time, when you do lock a thread not eveyone agrees.  But thats just the way it is.:eyemouth:

like i said, the scamps that were not there the night all that stuff happened dont really have a right or a reason to choose sides, and thats what souly wanted.

AND we close threads for 3 reasons

1.  the thead is a nuisance (souly\'s thead)
2.  the thead is disruptive
3. we damn well feel like it
