Hell, if you dig enough you\'ll find certain country songs with themes of violence. If you don\'t like rap, that\'s fine, but there has to be better reasons to complain about rap, other than the violent themes of certain songs .

Yea I know, was just picking hairs for the simple fact of doing so :) Nothing like a good discussion when a good one can be had :)

MM..Rap lyrics are often motivated by the very same discription you have used for Jim morrison..that and real life experiance.

mm..something else I just thought about. Why do you associate them as a group with having an identity crisis.

Part of my point was that the basis of the music is for shock and attenion getting. Eminem loves attenion and gets it.
That was part of my point.

It isn\'t often we disagree, is it MM?

LIC, I wouldn\'t say he acts and speaks in that manner for attention because he loves it, but more because that is what will get him to his ultimate goal..the green.

I disagree with this. I have been to countless concerts(rap, rock, pop, R&B, etc.). The only genres that consistently have numerous "violent" injuries are rock concerts. I\'ve seen stuff at rock concerts that if started at a rap concert would have it shut down INSTANTLY.

BTW, Why do you say that rap music begets violence in the first place?

bah, whens the last time a rock star got killed in a "drive by" by another rap star?

you dont see tom petty singing about gats and throwin them in sky and waving them like they just dont care

and steven tyler saying he\'s a pimp and a thug

i know the rap culture is an act, so dont remind me

but kids imitate what they see

they see tupac holding twin 9mm\'s and they think thats cool

they see big poppa smoking weed and they think thats cool

most rap music is a scourge and a detriment to society as a whole
its counter-productive

So basically what you are saying is that Rock music is not a detriment to society? Tell me how Rock makes this world a better place? To sit there and bad mouth rap like it is the only form of music that produces controversial and negative lyrics is BULLSHIT. Especially when compared to Rock. Popular rock right now is nothing but I hate this, I hate that, I hate myself, teen angst bullshit.

I have to go with Gohan on this. How do you explain things like Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails or many other rock / industrial bands? They are all angst, violence based music. To say rap is the only music that influences kids to do violent acts is simply short-sighted. Why can\'t a kid who likes rock music such as Manson want to be violent? Seems to be the exact same thing to me.

Well All I Know. I Havn\'t Heard Anything Like "POP-RAP". There Is Hip-Hop/Rap But POP-RAP?.? Stupid Word!.!

And (LIC) Yes All Those Bands Are R&B. As For P Diddy, Is HipHop And So Is WillSmith (Just Cause He Doesn\'t Curse In His Songs, Doesn\'t Make HIM A POP Musician).

As For Michael Jackson, Ok He Was Known For KING OF "POP". But The Most Awards He Picked Was For Best "R&B" Artist.

Neways....I Was Just Shocked The Way Someone Said Everyone Below 14 Should Hear Eminem. (How Can Someone Defend That?). I Dont Get It.

Neways. U Hate Him, His Music, His Lyrics, His Image Or Whatever. It Doesn\'t Bother Me. Many People WHO LOVES RAP Hate Eminem (Not Pointing Fingers At Anyone In The Forums) Just Because He Is Making Black Music And Being More Successful. Thats A Stupid Reason Not To Like Someone.

Neways F*ck It.
