Might just add my little info to this thread aswell....:

From an interview with Yamauchi, the genious behind the GT series, we found out that GT4 will most likely use the HDD to speed up loading times and play a central role in downloading content for the game (i.e. cars maybe?).

He also commented on the issue of adding damage to the game. He said, he hopes to implement it but as of yet, no one is sure because the car manufacturers just won\'t allow it. He did say that GM and a few others already gave him an OK for damage in GT4, but at the end, a few won\'t be enough. He did say though, that it\'s a possibility that Rally mode might have real-time damage included while other game mods might lock the feature out.

Online mode would be great for GT4. Mmm... if developers use the HDD to download accesories like more circuits and cars.. would it be free of charge?

Car damage would be great. I\'m getting tired of bouncing of cars and walls with no damage.

That\'s what I thought.  Last I heard, Sony pulled out of this year\'s TGS.  It\'s a shame, but with such a decrease in attendance over the last couple years, I don\'t see how the Tokyo Game Show can last for much longer.

*drool* GT4 *is in heaven*
:)

Seven: Use HDD to speed up loadtimes? Hmm, GT3s average loadtime was about 4-5 seconds or so. Dont see how it would do much good.
Downloadable cars and tracks would be awesome though.

Naughty Dogs new game? Shitnitz.. Ive been hoping to hear something about their new game ever since I completed Jak and Daxter. *hopes for Jak and Daxter 2*

Fastson, if GT4 uses a compressed texture system, it may take longer loadtimes (i hope no), although GT3 was ok in that matter.

J&D2? Mmm... it sounds really cool.

I see a ton of online games in that mix.

And since GT4 might use the HDD, lets hope Sony actualy decides to bring it here... I know of lot of people looking forward to FFXI were unsure if it would actually be released over here because of the whole HDD issue.

The only thing I am worried about, is if GT4 really does use the HDD to make the game actually better, then that means that everyone will need a HDD.

I would say that the HDD will only be used for downloads etc, I mean, they are shooting themselves in the foot if GT4 needs a HDD, think of the sales they would lose (or, think of the sales of HDD\'s...)...

Is there going to be media coverage of TGS like there was for E3?

Kim - There is always media coverage of TGS. TGS is the biggest games show in Japan.

well, Yamauchi said that using the HDD wouldn\'t be too much of a hassle to implement, so I guess users with a HDD will be able to play with better textures or something. Loading times would be probably better - if they use a lot of textures that is. Instead of streaming off the DVD, they could basically stream it off the HDD which would make a significant difference. You could have much more textures available during in-game...

The thing is Racer, it\'s probably the biggest franchise to move the HDD system. If it\'s gonna be needed for GT4
then i think Sony have the best chance of selling it with this game than it would any other.
