You\'ll need a router with COX. They use dynamic ip address\' (Means they change everyday) So you need a router that assigns a static ip address.

I have COX cable also. Got a router, it works like a charm.

Yup you\'ll need a router. I kept getting the same thing all day yesterday. I checked around on some boards and found out you can get a connection if you use a router. The one I picked up today is the Linksys 4port router, it worked like a charm. Oh yeah once you hook it up through the router go to the automatic settings and select NO for the other questions.
Can you dig it.......................

I personally use a NETgear router.  I paid $300 for mine two years ago and it works great.  One note on routers though, sometimes you have to reset them if you lose your internet connection.  This happens oh maybe once every 3 months with me.  All you do is unplug your cable modem and the router for about a minute then plug the modem back in followed by the router.  Once this is done the internet comes right up.

I\'m having a similar problem, but its over a college network.   When I try connecting to socom, the first thing it says is that the socom server isnt responding.  every time after that it tells me it cant detect an internet connection.  Madden just tells me the madden server isnt responding.  do i need a router too?
