I agree about Kobe...

But, yeah, I\'m glad they lost.  Maybe they\'ll start to treat these things like actual games, instead of just exhibitions of their dominance.  Maybe a few more alley oops and a little more defense would do them good.

The answer is not obvious dude.

I guess when David Stern and the entire NBA is hailing you as the next Michael Jordan, you have the luxury of blowing off your nation.  For most amateur atheletes, competing in the Olympics is an honor, a priviledge, and a responsibility[/i]  You have to take every opportunity you get to participate, because you might not get another one.  By declining his opportunity to compete in the Olympics, Kobe Bryant pissed on the entire amateur tradition of the games.  Amateurs have to structure their personal lives around competition schedules, not the other way around.

The Olympics are not just a job like playing an 82 game season in the NBA, yet Kobe Bryant doesn\'t recognize any difference.  To him it\'s just another press conference and another photo op.  You think he believes "what the hell, I\'ll just be on the team next time."  I think he really doesn\'t give a damn one way or the other.  That\'s what hacks me off.

If I were Kobe, in any situation, I would have still picked to attend the wedding. :D

Good for Argentina, they got nothing else going for em, they needed a little sports pick-me-up!  Being the big brother the US is, Im glad we took one as a team.

Yep, as much as i hate Kobe i agree that it was the right choice for him to go to the wedding.

And about the US not having the best bball team, pfft, one loss doesn\'t mean shit. If we put our best out there, and they play like a team (which is unlikely) nobody could beat us.

mucho props vapor..probably the most intelligent thing I have seen you say in here. Im with you as well. These guys really look forward to doing their thing in the off-season whether it is simply living it up spending their millions or being with their families. I would turn the games down as well.

Screw that..it is an honor and a priviledge, but certainly not ones responsibility. The US could care less who is actually competing as long as they dominate.

Who cares if he pissed on amatuer tradition, he is no longer one. They dont have to do anything they do not want to do, other than contractual stipulations.

Who cares if he doesnt give a damn, they are many more good players who do. Why should he be forced to compete in something that will take away he free time if he doesnt wish too?

HAHAHA...USA lost again.  58-2.  We don\'t even medal now.

Oh, and by the way, Kobe was completely correct to turn down the World Championships for his wedding.  It\'s nice to see he has his priorities straight.  How you can say he should be postponing his own wedding for basketball, I don\'t care what basketball it is, is something I can\'t understand.  It\'s just a game, sometimes people need to remember that.

Personally, I hate most of that damn team.  I also hate the people who decided not to join that team for bullshit reasons.  Kobe, he had a real reason.  There were others that didn\'t.

If we threw out like Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Kidd, and Kobe, we would never come within 40 points of losing.
