Sept 11 Tribute
« on: September 11, 2002, 09:35:03 AM »
As a New Yorker who was deeply affected by the atrocity of 9-11, I\'d like to use this thread to offer my sympathies, condolences, and prayers to the 3,000+ victims, including 300+ firefighters and numerous police, PA police, and EMS workers.

Although I did not know any of the victims, as an American, we\'re all affected.

May the victims rest in peace, may the surviving members of their familes find peace and comfort, and may such an event never occur again.

Post your own thoughts and prayers.

(Could one of the mods make this a Sticky?)
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

I feel pretty much the same as most. I wish all of the families involved in ANY recent terrorist event thes best and my sorrows are with you. I would pray, but Im not exactly religious.

I knew of a friend that was injured in the WTC event, but was fortunately ok. I hope that person is still doing as well as she stated when we last spoke and hope this day is not extremely taxing on her.

For those that have perished, I can only be happy that they no longer have to suffer certain problems they may have had are in the religious place they believed in.

My thoughts are with the victims of those attacks, and the heros who saved so many on that day.  I am a New Yorker, and while I\'m not from the city, I am there quite often.  My father has an office there, and works there quite a bit.  Most of my family is there, aunts and uncles, grandparents, cousins, etc.  I did know someone whose life was lost in those attacks.  He was a friend of the family, and my thoughts are especially with him on this day.  I also know others who lost loved ones, and I wish them, and everyone else who had to deal with this tragedy, the best of luck with everything involved, and my deepest sympothies.

I only hope that no group of people is ever faced with such an event again.

Well, I´m no New Yorker, I´m not even an American...
...but...again... I cried this evening in front of my TV. I saw the 1h45min documentation Film from the two brothers Jules und Gédéon Naudet who filmed the life of a young Firefighter in NY. One of the two brothers filmed the first plane hit by coincidence... you surely saw that moment of the film at the News. After that they filmed the effort of the Firefighters from within the WTC 1 until it collapsed. This film deserve an Oscar ! The two brothers spend all the money made by this film for the kids of the Firefighters lost on 9/11.
...the Two and all Firefighters from "their" Firestation returned save.

EDIT:
1. People from 91 Nations died on 9/11/01... this  involves all of us.
2. It just came over me, that there are more than 3,000 members on this Board...
3,000... ...

On my way into work today I passed by a school that had over a thousand flags lining the road.  It was rather touching.  Something as simple as that can turn your stomach.   Bah, maybe I\'m a big puss.

It is a tragic day. I know someone who actually fasted today (don\'t ask why) and quite a few people wore American Tshirts. The only thing I don\'t like is how the media keeps pushing how the day was and showing the towers falling everyday (or atleast reminding us) and it just opens up wounds for the victim\'s families. I don\'t think they should keep reminding us. Although, I didn\'t like the media too much before hand.

Our school did a really big thing on it which was pretty cool I guess. I cried in the bathroom afterwards.

That was beautiful Ryu. That almost made me cry (dead close. tears were begining to form in my eyes)

Anyone hear more on the war against Iraq? Supposedly we are finishing off Hussein once and for all. If I was 18, I\'d join the military and help in the war.
