Personally I see lack of detail on DOA3 characters. Its mostly lighting effects that make the characters look great than texture detail.

I ment that whatever on screen is near you, seems to affect the framerate which are supposed to be in full detail(when near).

So you\'d rather the detail in a game be cut in half to get 60fps?   You\'d never even know the framerate of a game without the developer stating what it is, anyone that thinks they can tell a constant 30 from a constant 60 in most games is talking out their ass.  The only games where you\'d be able to tell is where the camera pans very quickly, with 30 it will be a little jerky, and that is really only in Quake3/UT deathmatch games.

not exactly,  integ

anyone with an average set of eyes can tell 30 fps from 60 fps

ive been looking at monitors for so long, i can tell 60mhz from 85 mhz from 100mhz

3dfx made a demo that shows 30fps running next to 60fps and the difference is disgusting.  if you have a video card capable of doing glide than watch this

And just see how Yakuza looks on PS2 even if its running in less texture detail. And I prefer Timsplitters2 than Halo(not comparing gameplay there) if u know what I mean.

Please Inteq

You play something like Halo or Red Faction, then play TimeSplitters and just TRY to tell me you can\'t tell the difference.

Okay, you listed FPS\'s.. how about Racing games...

Ridge Racer was released on PSX at 30fps. It was RE-released (as a bonus with RR4) at 60fps. The difference was HUGE. (Just 2 examples).

Or fighting games, or 3rd person games, or whatever.

It\'s not something that would deter me from buying a game, of course. But with the level of graphics we are at now, I don\'t CARE if one has a few less poly\'s and slightly less textures when the games can be MUCH SMOOTHER to play.

Take a look at Nintendo\'s first party offerings. Wave Race, didn\'t have extremely pretty graphics (great water tho), but it had a PERFECT framerate, even in 4 player. Same with Super Smash brothers. And others. THATS what I want to see.

indeed

ill take a graphics hit for true 60 fps

i used to play quake 3 with uber players that would strip the game of ALL textures for the highest FPS they could get

I always wished that beautiful graphics and high framerates would go hand in hand, it looks like my wish is still generations away.

... In the newest EGM they said they wanted to keep the intence action while having it run at the same framerate(smoothness) as the first game.

There\'s a small possibility that they\'ll be able to bump it up to 60. Time constraints were the reason they couldn\'t do it last time. They have plenty of time now.

I don\'t mind 30fps as long as it\'s a rock solid 30fps. The problem with 30fps is at times of extreeme on-screen action, the framerate tends to dip down around 20.. sometimes to 15.. and that\'s just unexcusable. It\'s annoying in games like Shenmue where the action is farily slowly paced anyhow.. but in a game like Driver2 where high speed is necessary to gameplay, it jus turns the entire title to trash. I would have easily sacrificed graphics for framerate in that title anyday.

Yet.. provided they can keep a rock solid 30FPS throughout the entire game, I\'ll sacrifice those extra 30fps for some enhanced graphical capabilities anyday.

DAMN! I wasnt a huge fan of the first but i must say that it was pretty fun. Im not a grafics whore but oh my gentle jesus these are nice. It really does bring an overwhelming experience to the table and im interested in how this is going to play. If it reaches 60fps then that might be the breaking point for me getting an xbox, (eventhough i still adore my ps2  :D )

please, when you work in a project like this, there is no such thing as plenty of time.
belive me, I have worked in projects for several big companies, and no matter how much time you have, you will always (ALWAYS!) end up short on time !
