Gulf War Syndrome Caused by the US!
« on: September 27, 2002, 06:37:22 AM »
I was watching Fox News last night and they reported on the Gulf War Syndrome and retired Colonel David H. Hackworth (a reporter for Newsweek and an author) was being interviewed.  In it he stated that Gulf War Syndrome was due to the US blowing up Seran (sp?) gas deposits (they didn\'t know it was Seran gas when they destroyed it - they thought it was regular munitions) and the US using Uranium tipped weapons (anti tank rounds).

Apparently millions of particles of Uranium were blowing around the battlefield during the war and it only takes half a particle to kill someone.  Even today there are still high levels of Uranium floating around out there.  As Hackworth said in the interview, "This is the biggest incident of friendly fire in the history of the United States military."  My question is if we go back to Iraq, how are we going to protect our troops from our own weapons????

Caused by US???  It seems that possibly it was caused by Iraq invading Kuwait.

Protecting our troops?  I agree.  It sucks.  It\'s too bad this will have to be a landwar as well.  So much cleaner blowing things up at random from the air.

I propose that in order to protect the troops we should mandate that they wear a cup.

The popular belief was that Saddam used the gas, but it is apparent he didn\'t.  I was reffering to our own troops accidently blowing up munitions that were not properly identified.

The uranium tipped shells are another worry...  I don\'t think anyone thought there would be trace amounts of uranium floating around after they were used.  For all the hi tech stuff we have its amazing we don\'t test it enough to avoid mishaps like this.  Ten thousand Gulf War vets have died from this and 10 times as many have symptoms....

A half a gram whatever - you get the point.  I am not a scientist.  Nor does knowing what a particle is or what the lethal dose is to the exact figure make me ignorant.  With millions of particles floating around I don\'t think it matters.  It is enough to kill you quite a few times.

Raises my hand in honor of one not having a clue of what the heck Ryu is talking about.  I assume it\'s some geeky video game talk or something.

My sisters bloke spent ten years in Spec-Ops (UK). During the Gulf War he was given a cocktail of around ten different pills, never tested in that combination before to be taken every day, he buried his in the Saudi desert along with many others. The pills wouldn\'t have saved them from everything, they said they\'d rather die than have to survive a gas attack in total agony and pull through.

One of his squad members didn\'t bury his pills, two years after the gulf he saw this guy again and he had a patch of grey on his cheek about 1" across and spreading slowly. He went to the doctor and was told that for some reason his skin was dying and there was nothing they could do to stop it other than remove the entire section of his face.

Suspected combination of powerful pills and depleted uranium rounds.

God knows what the hell they were taking, they weren\'t told.
