Help with Online PS2
« on: September 27, 2002, 06:59:31 PM »
First off, hello to everyone in the forums.

Now on to my trouble.  I recently purchased the net adapter along with a 4-port linksys router.  I have the router set with a static ip to the wan and as a dhcp server for my comp and my ps2.  The test connection on the ps2 setup cd works fine.  However, when I actually connect to the socom server, I am soon disconnected.  Is there any setting that I need to set on my router to play a decent game of socom or is everyone having trouble with the socom server.  Any help would be appreciated greatly.

The biggest problem I have is getting kicked out of the US East Briefing Room.  I don\'t often get disconnected from the SOCOM site and I have the Linksys router as well.

I don\'t know what kind of service you have, but I pretty much autodetected on everything so don\'t remember using the dhcp setting.

Yeah, I have come to the conclusion that being booted has to do with your connection.  MOST of the time.  there is the occasional time where everyone in a game gets kicked, but I think that if anyone gets a bad ping, you get dropped from the servers.  I dont know if this has anything to do with it, but, I was thinking that it might be something else. With my cable modem, I have people or programs constantly trying to hack my computer.  On my computer I have a firewall that tells me everytime this happens.  But I dont have a router, so everytime that I Play on the PS2, Soeone could be trying to enter through a port.  I dont know if that could have any effect on your game.  Just a thought.
