Well my wifey and I went and saw it tonight and I\'d have to say it\'s a billion times better than Hannibal and actually almost as good as Silence of the Lambs.

I don\'t want to give away anything, but I\'d have to recomend it.  Certainly more enjoyable than just about every movie I\'ve seen since TLOTR.

I saw Red Dragon back in the 80\'s...the original Michael Mann version. But they re-titled it as Man Hunter.

Story wise...it\'s the best. Suspense wise.....Silence of the Lambs was better.

No, I have no seen the new Red Dragon yet.

People on the net that compare it to Man Huntersay that Man Hunter was better, but Ralph Fiennes is damn good.   And I love Edward Norton.  The dude kicked ass in Presumed Innocent.

They changed the ending though.  A little added touch.

Hannibal Lecter is the best character that Anthony Hopkins has ever played IMO.

*rubs eyes...yawns* I saw the 1am movie. Now THAT was good. Fienes was not scary enough compared to the original Man Hunter. Edward Norton, great actor....was a little too wimpy for this role compared to the original guy. Hopkins....stole the show. Better suspense than the original, IMO.

Hmm, Hannibal sucked major ass. That was the first movie in the theaters that caused me to fall alseep.. It was a toss up between The Tuxedo and Red Dragon yesterday night, so me and my girlfriend picked The Tuxedo. It\'s pretty good actually..

I will probably wait till Red Dragon gets to the discount movies, when it costs like 2 bucks to see it. ;)

i really have no idea, seemed kind along. i didnt relise it was even out yet, i thought it was coming out in a few weeks or something, id say over 2 hours....

and yes ednorton does make it rock, i though a. hopkins was very good, but not as good as in sotl, it was kinda weird cos as its a prequel to sotl, but hes older, so they had to dye his hair, in the first scenes, i dunno a . hopkins look weird, cos he got black hair, and  his eyebrows just look weird

So on a gore ranking, how does this fall?

Very low.  Hardly any gore.  it\'s all subliminal.  This is a total departure from Hannibal.  It\'s good. Hannibal sucked ass.

There is almost zero gore - if any at all.

Manhunter focused on Will Graham, the broken and troubled cop. It diverted on the book in that sense, because the book was much more about \'The Tooth Fairy\' and Will\'s struggle. However, at the time, people was watching movies about broken cops and not serial killers, so Manhunter was changed for its time and was a great movie - and by all means, is still a great movie.

However, Red Dragon - the new movie is much more focused on the book and explains a lot more about \'The Tooth Fairy\' and the serial killer mindset.

See, if you go back and watch Silence of the Lambs it was not about Hannibal or Buffalo Bill - it was Clarice\'s story and it was about her own struggle. Red Dragon was about Will\'s struggle and also about \'The Tooth Fairy\'. That\'s why they\'re good movies. Simply because they do not focus on Hannibal  who really is nothing more than a means to keep the story goin\' and a supporting character and that is my opinion on why Hannibal was so terrible. IT took a secondary character and tried to move him to the fore front, when he really was much more suited for the background.

PS - The new and improved ending was spectacular.
