Yes! We get the sequel to 18 Wheeler!

October 08, 2002 - The King of Route 66, Sega-AM2\'s sequel to the cult arcade hit 18-Wheeler American Pro Trucker, is in development exclusively for PlayStation 2, Sega of America announced today. Released in arcades running on the Naomi 2 hardware some time ago, Route 66 will arrive on PS2 in March 2003.
Like its predecessor, The King of Route 66 places the player at the helm of a long-haul trucking rig, challenging them to reach their goal through heavy traffic in a limited time. Route 66 updates the franchise with more characters, "dozens of mini-games," vehicle customization features, and a heroic quest narrative to string things together. The ultimate goal is to defeat the evil Tornado Corporation (no, we are not joking), become King of the Road (not joking here either), and make it with the Queens of Route 66 (seriously, no joke).

We will offer more details on The King of Route 66 when we can dig up our old reports on the arcade version, from many JAMMA exhibitions past. In the meantime, we heartily recommend AM2\'s webpage for the game

Boo-hoo! I didn\'t care for 18 Wheeler and I could care less about this. It\'s depressing to know that Sega\'s resources are goin\' to games like this and not into an actual enhanced port of Shenmue 2 or actual development of Shenmue 3....

Why make a sequel to a game that didnt sell well on a console that can offer much more profits with better games?

18 wheeler is a cheap title for them to produce, so why not?

Like I said, I think I will pass on this.

Millions mm? More like tens of millions. Shenmue cost around 40-50 million dollars to produce... and 60 million for Shenmue II. That\'s not just light pocket change.

Christ people.. if you all want Shenmue so bad, just do what Bob did and buy a damned Dreamcast. The unit and game alone will probably cost less than the PS2 game by itself.

Who wants Shenmue so bad? What I want is to see Sega quit making bone-headed moves now that they\'re third party. I can understand holding out on Sony before the other consoles launched. But now? Sega needs to make money when they can where they can.

If they will never make the next shenmue on PS2 because it needs millions to be made then there wont be a next Shenmue.Where would it be developed on?XBOX?There sales incomes wont be enough to cover the costs.Gamecube?Ok.I expect more sales than Xbox.But again not enough.
