Ah the N64 this console could have been my favorite. The problem however is the same as the GC has, super massive hits but very few.

Still to this day it had some of my favorite games like Goldeneye definatly in my all time loved book. BFD was a riot but not much more(never got into the Mario or Zelda and no little animals games for sure Except Conker) was offered.

Even now with the GC I am desparate to buy some games for it as of now I own two. With PS2 exclusives and most crossover games going to the X-box this leaves little room to the GC.

The N64 was a great machine but it just did not have enough games I like to play. I hope things will get better for the GC.

Although I find DC a great console the huge amount of shooting games(Like Spawn,Heavy metal etc) and many arcadey games,IMO didnt let the console to show its true shine.Very good looking but mediocre games made the great ones sunk to the mass of the mediocre ones as people were blinded between the graphic only great ones and the generally great ones.

I wouldnt  even consider House of the Dead2 or Typing of the Dead a killer DC game.Too arcady, too repetitive, nothing new.

But games like SC,SHENMUE,Sonic1 and 2,Phantasy Star online etc as some of the greatest games.EVER!

Btw:Any news on Sonic3 anyone?

As much as I liked the DC and still do, I too wonder how anyone could pick it as their favourite. Sure, it has a few great games but so many that are just mediocre.

I think the DC has less great games than the PS2 has now. As one person said earlier; there are too many arcade type games for DC and few truely great.

My favorite console, if you can even call it a console, is the amiga. It was more of a computer but still. No system can beat the amiga IMO. Like the DC, it died a premature death.

Granted, I\'ve only played the demo.. but Sly Cooper is absolutely no competition for Sonic.

Hmm only the demo... well there\'s the problem, you only played the demo, how can you compare a demo you played to a whole game? That\'s not fair. I\'ve played all of Sly Cooper and it\'s great, like Sonic.

GTA3 & MGS2 aren\'t anywhere NEAR the same type of game Shenmue is. How in god\'s name can you even compair those two? HeadHunter to MGS2.. yeah I can see that.. but not Shenmue. Good god, have you even played that game?

Yes, I\'ve played Shenmue, its a good game, but it\'s very slow paced. I was comparing the cinematics/the movie feel of the games. Shenmue has alot of cinemas, and I was saying if that\'s what you want, MGS2 hands-down beats the cinemas in Shenmue.
Most of Shenmue is based on the freedom you have in the game, going in houses, talking to people, getting jobs etc. My point was that if freedom is what you want, then GTA3 kills the freedom aspect of Shenmue.

PS2 can equal/ surpass anything on the DC, and it has.
Again, I\'m not here to put down the DC but the PS2 is the system to own now, it\'s on it\'s way to being one of the greatest systems of all-time. There\'s plenty of great games that haven\'t been released or even announced (Sega Rally 3 :facelick: ).

Sly and Sonic are two different types of platforming games, Jesus!

Shenmue being compared to GTA3 and MGS2, when they are not even in the same genre? How can you compare those?

Bragging that the PS2 has MVC2 with "extras"? How long did it take you PS2 owners to get this gem? Yeah, thats what I thought and I hate to break it to ya\', the PS2 only has two SF games..Capcom Vs SNK 2 and SFEX3  - neither of which can beat Street Fighter: Third IMpact for playability.

And yeah, the PS2 got Code Veronica -  but who had it first? The DC and which version looks better? The DC version. I own them both. I\'ve played them both extensively and even wrote hatemail to Capcom for what I deem a shoddy port of RE:CV....

As for Unicorn - what the hell are you smoking? Typing of the Dead, nothing new? It is only one of the more original concepts and spins on the shooter genre , not to mention damn addicitive.

And finally, the comment about the NGC not having any good games...Let\'s see..

RE:Rebirth
Star Fox Adventure\'s
RE:0
Super Monkey Ball
Super Monkey Ball 2
Animal Crossing (which, is game of the year so far , in my opinion)
Sega Soccer Slam
Super Smash Bro\'s: Melee

And Boz - did I play the SNES? I\'ve grown up on gamin\' and owned a SNES as soon as they was released. Yes, it was one of the greater consoles ever, in my opinion. My mother gave away most my SNES games and I am rebuilding my collection slowly, recollecting classics that cannot even be touched by today\'s so called "great games".

I never said NGC didn\'t have any good games, I said it didn\'t have many good games, there\'s a difference.
Those games you mention are good with the exception of a few...
Don\'t get me wrong I\'m not saying the NGC sucks, I\'m just saying how can you rate it better than PS2? PS2 has double/triple the amount of good game the GC has.
I\'m sure GC will getting better games in the future just like the PS2 did, or at least I hope so, because I own a GC:cool:

It was House of the Dead2 with a Keyboard.Instead of taking HOTD2 and replace the gun or controller with a Keyboard they could have made an entirely new game.
Not everyone would spent for that game. Some had House of the Dead2 already, some arent very good at typing and some didnt like House of the Dead.

Here\'s a question. How long did it take the PS2 to get these supposely "great games" (which in my opinion, are hardly "great" by any means). Now compare that time to the time it took the DC to amount plenty of great games...

To be honest, if it wasn\'t for the fact that I must own every console due to Capcom - I wouldn\'t of even bought a PS2. I didn\'t care for the PSX and I care about the same for my PS2. I am interested in a handful of games at most and find that ninety percent of those are by my favorite developer - which so happened to be the strongest supporter for the DC - so maybe thats why I loved my DC. It was almost like having a Capcom exclusive console...Ah, how I wish...

Well, to be fair.. I compaired the SA2 demo which came with PSO v.1 to Sly Cooper. Sonic still beats Sly hands down in handling, discoverable secrets, reflexes, and pure fun. Not to say that it\'s a bad game from what I\'ve seen.. but again.. no competition for Sonic.

Only on a PS2 message board would I find someone saying that MGS2 is better than Shenmue because of it\'s NON-PLAYABLE cinimatics. Christ people.. what do we play games for? Really.. just rent a damn movie.

Going into houses: You can\'t enter all the houses in GTA3. Actually, when you think about the size of the city there\'s not really a whole lot of places you CAN enter unless they have relevance to specific missions.

Talking to people: That\'s in everygame. Do people have dynamic dialoge that changes throughout the course of the game? Do they tell you about their lives, ask how you\'re doing, invite you to go out on a date? What about the average joe on the street. You can\'t talk to anyone the game doesn\'t NEED you to talk to. In Shenmue, you can talk to everyone.

Get a Job: Yeah, but that\'s the whole point of the game.. to get jobs and increase your reputation so that you can get better jobs. The job in Shenmue are just a part of the storyline.. not a central gameplay objective.

Now.. in GTA3 can you: Take care of animals, Play Arcade games, enter fighting tourneys, buy capsule toys, open individual drawers in the houses you enter, buy a soda from a vending machine, ect.. ect.. ect.. Shenmue still has far more freedom than GTA3.

Still, the two games aren\'t even compairable. If you can\'t even see the completely different gameplay structure between these two titles.. then there\'s no point in continuing this discussion.

Launch titles have been in development for a longer time for DC than the ones for PS2.Also the easy to develop DC allowed many developers(and weaker ones)to make good games for it.

Difficult to develop for archetecture doesn\'t make bad games.. it only makes bad looking games. Weither a game is good or not depends on the talent of the game makers.. not the strength of the hardware.

Yes, I own aa NGC. I own every next gen system, plus a bunch of older ones (just recently got my import Saturn).

What is your point about the development time? You\'re saying we was gamers should excuse crappy or delayed games because Sony made their system to hard to develop for? As opposed to playing great games, sooner than later , with the DC?
Flawed logic...

And it isn\'t my fault Sony wasn\'t on the ball and didn\'t get developer kits out to developers sooner for the PS2 could have stellar launch games. That\'s Sony\'s fault and I hold them responisble for that mess up, just like I do for the shortage of PS2\'s.

Shenmue cant compete with MGS2 because its got elements not seen in shenmue or as good and neither can MGS2 compete Shenmue because its got elements or better than MGS2\'s.

No reason to compare them.2 different genres.PS2 can deliver Shenmue type of games. But it doesnt have one.

The same goes for comparing Shenmue and GTA3.

DC had games the PS2 doesnt and the PS2 has games the DC didnt.Who cares?

Obviously GAMES seems to care, or maybe he\'s just grasping at straws to compair games without letting each console rest on it\'s own laurels and having someone actually pick what he feels as the "lesser" console over his choice. Anyhow, that exactly what I said earlier.. you can\'t compaire the two titles so don\'t even bother trying.

Oh, and the PS2 does have a game which can compete with Shenmue graphically.. as soon as Konami gets around to releasing it. Silent Hill 3 looks to be the first game on the PS2 to really break the "DC" barrier and produce graphics that even the DC\'s top game couldn\'t match. Bout f\'ing time isn\'t it?
