Hmm only the demo... well there\'s the problem, you only played the demo, how can you compare a demo you played to a whole game? That\'s not fair. I\'ve played all of Sly Cooper and it\'s great, like Sonic. - GAMES
Well, to be fair.. I compaired the SA2 demo which came with PSO v.1 to Sly Cooper. Sonic still beats Sly hands down in handling, discoverable secrets, reflexes, and pure fun. Not to say that it\'s a bad game from what I\'ve seen.. but again.. no competition for Sonic.
I was comparing the cinematics/the movie feel of the games. Shenmue has alot of cinemas, and I was saying if that\'s what you want, MGS2 hands-down beats the cinemas in Shenmue. - GAMES
Only on a PS2 message board would I find someone saying that MGS2 is better than Shenmue because of it\'s
NON-PLAYABLE cinimatics. Christ people.. what do we play games for? Really.. just rent a damn movie.
Most of Shenmue is based on the freedom you have in the game, going in houses, talking to people, getting jobs etc. My point was that if freedom is what you want, then GTA3 kills the freedom aspect of Shenmue. - GAMES
Going into houses: You can\'t enter all the houses in GTA3. Actually, when you think about the size of the city there\'s not really a whole lot of places you CAN enter unless they have relevance to specific missions.
Talking to people: That\'s in everygame. Do people have dynamic dialoge that changes throughout the course of the game? Do they tell you about their lives, ask how you\'re doing, invite you to go out on a date? What about the average joe on the street. You can\'t talk to anyone the game doesn\'t NEED you to talk to. In Shenmue, you can talk to everyone.
Get a Job: Yeah, but that\'s the whole point of the game.. to get jobs and increase your reputation so that you can get better jobs. The job in Shenmue are just a part of the storyline.. not a central gameplay objective.
Now.. in GTA3 can you: Take care of animals, Play Arcade games, enter fighting tourneys, buy capsule toys, open individual drawers in the houses you enter, buy a soda from a vending machine, ect.. ect.. ect.. Shenmue still has far more freedom than GTA3.
Still, the two games aren\'t even compairable. If you can\'t even see the completely different gameplay structure between these two titles.. then there\'s no point in continuing this discussion.
