you cant expect to play ANY RPG for an hour and expect to get somewhere

and when did graphics become so important?

I got the invite too but have no desire to play EQ.  I played it for a few hours a long time ago and hated it.

Graphics aren\'t all that imporant in context to gameplay.. yet, why did people buy the PS2 for? What\'s the use of shelling out 200 bucks on a next gen system when this is what people can throw on it and expect to sell. Graphically sub-par is one thing if the gameplay is there.. hell look at Animal Crossing.. but J-H-Christ mm.. there IS a standard to meet.

And it\'s comming from Sony no less... ugh. Where\'s that Boob Raider "Quality Control" thread at.. I\'ve got some new arguments for it right here.

/me looks at FFXI and then looks at EQ:OA and just shakes his head..

Don\'t change the subject here. For someone as jaded as you, I\'m surprised YOU\'RE not complaining. Maybe if I had some webspace to host pics I could run one thru PhotoSuite and give it a good dose of gaussian blur and then see what you think. :)

everquest isnt played for its graphics

its the solid gameplay and social possibilities that keep people hooked and paying

Perhaps.. but many games can give you solid gameplay and social possiblities.. while looking far better in the process. There\'s quite a few of them comming out this generation for both the PC and Console platforms. I\'m not arguing that graphics > Gameplay... I\'m arguing that there should at least be a standard. What if GTA3:Vice City was released with Driver 2 style graphics? I really couldn\'t see you defending that.

Dark Age of Camelot is way better IMHO.  EQ is just tedious.  You either love it or hate it.  I obviously fall into the latter.

everyone who leaves EQ for it, comes right back

I\'m not talking about EQ:PC here mm.. I\'m talking about EverQuest: Online Adventures.. the game comming out for the PS2 according to that Gamers.com artical, and the only EQ game I\'ve heard of comming to the PS2 which I would assume everyone\'s talking about beta testing here. That is compairable to games of this generation because it IS one of them.

I\'ve personally got no problem with EQ, but I can\'t stand to see this level of sloppyness going into what could very well be a marquee online title for the PS2.. expecially comming from Sony\'s own studios... and then turn around and have people actually defending it. Ugh.

mm, 800 hours to reach level 50 is a bit much for me.  I am sorry to disagree, but EQ is a time vacuum without much reward other than running around saying look at me I am level 50.  Online adventures seems it will be pretty much the same kill, heal, med and wait for respawn boredom that the PC version was.  If I am wrong, I would be interested in picking it up.

On the same topic, I will have to agree it was (until I realized how much time I was wasting) a captivating world which MMORPG\'s should all be.  The atmosphere and social interaction is without equal when it comes to games like these.  Before I was married, it was easy to find the time to immerse myself, but now 800 hours is not a luxury I have anymore.

I don\'t flaw EQ in graphics or social interaction, just gameplay as I mentioned above.
