Anyone else get the Everquest Beta invite?
« on: October 30, 2002, 06:39:45 PM »
Seems those who did the on-line testing and completed the forms are invited to Beta test "Everquest - Online Adventures"

Just curious if anyone else got the invite.  I just got it tonight, but damn is their site slow.

I don\'t even know how I got picked in the first place, guess I registered somewhere at the right place somewhere along the line..

I got an invite for Beta II.

I was never interested in the game at first, but after reading up, it actually sounds kinda cool.  They seem to be doing things a lot different than the PC verions.

If anything, it\'ll be nice to see the differences between it and the PC version.  I played the PC version for over two years.

I have not participated in any other beta test on the PS2, but I signed up for this one.  Never played Everquest before.

Nope.. but then again.. I don\'t have a PS2 or Modem Adaptor. Even if I did tho, I wouldn\'t because I don\'t have the slightest interest in EverQuest. I\'ve talked to alotta people who abhor the PC version, and frankly the PS2 version looks like complete garbage graphically. I hope they were just tweaking the gameplay engine while using the PC version\'s graphics. Final Fantasy XI should prove that the PS2 can do gorgeous looking MMORPGS.. why should EQ look like it\'s stuck in 1998?

I have to agree with SonyFan on this one.  EQ was the biggest waste of time for me.  In retrospect I keep asking myself why I played the game for almost 2 years.  You can\'t solo (with most classes), healing, medding, etc takes forever.  Trying to find the Ancient Cyclops in the South Desert of Ro is what drove the nail in the coffin for me.  After 20 hours of looking (not all at once) I finally see him and start attacking only to have some lame wizard come and kill him in 2 seconds and grab the loot.  Being a 47th Level SK I can\'t kill like a wizzy can even with harm touch.  The endless camping for spawns and trying to find groups... the game had some great ideas, but rereleasing it to an extent on the PS2 is a mistake.  Maybe they will make it more suitable for soloing and end the "evercamping"... we will just have to wait to see.

Star Wars Galaxies on the other hand is what I am looking forward to.

you took an SK?

no wonder you couldnt find a group

thats like being a satanist and going to the park  to look for friends

all classes can solo, but some are much easier to others .  an SK being one of the easy ones

medding takes forever?  lol

Hmm... a PoP pic.

Even more raids. :crap:

That game is  nothing raids every time you log on any decently high level character.

It\'s hard to believe they actually are planning TWO more EQPC expansions.

Anyway, I got the EQoA beta invite.  It\'ll be interesting to see the differences between the PC and PS2 versions.

People just didn\'t appreciate what an SK had to offer :)  Yes an SK could solo by fear kiting rather easily, though I think you believe it was too easy.  An SK\'s pet is worthless since it is half your level.    Not to start a whole SK debate, but try soloing an SK when you are over level 40.  You will spend most of you time healing or trying to find a rez as a lot of mobs resist fear or it breaks at the worst moment.

I also had a Shaman who was sort of fun to play, but once you get into the hell levels it got old fast.  The point I am trying to make is that it takes hours just do something if anything at all.  You can\'t log on for one hour and expect to get a whole lot accomplished.  The time requirement was the biggest turn off for me.

/me turns back the clock a little bit to 1996....

http://www.gamers.com/game/1130619

s\'cuse me.. I was just trying to make the situation seem a little less pathetic than it actually was for people who are actually looking forward to this title. It\'s the PS2 for christs sake.. granted not the most powerful hardware.. but these kinda graphics are just inexcusable. Cig, please tell us they\'ve done a massive overhaul of the graphics engine because if it\'s already gone to Beta testing then there\'s not much hope.
