I have lived in DFW and trust me there aren\'t many blacks there at all... Go to any other city in the South and the Northeast and you will see many more.  

Mystiq you are part of this MTV generation that buys into all the hype.  MTV isn\'t what it was 15 or so years ago when you could easily catch some Metallica, Slayer or some decent music vids.  I remember the days when they used to air 120 minutes and those were some of the best videos made.  

Don\'t get me wrong, I don\'t mind seeing Mariah shake it - its just sad that MTV plays nothing but rap/hiphop and The Real World.  What Square said is true also, most blacks view Eminem as a joke, a wannabe "gangsta"... Sorta like you Mystiq.  :rolleyes:

Are you black? How do you know that most blacks view him as anything? Are you basing this on the fact that YOU think he is a wannabe gangsta?

Personally I don\'t listen to much Eminem; but the FACT remains he is one of the best lyricists out there.

I don\'t get how someone who states that they don\'t like or even listen to rap can then go on and say what rap is like or what they talk about. Doesn\'t the first statement nullify any of the following statements made about the topic? I rarely listen to rock. In fact the only CD that I own that is considered rock is a Hendrix greatest hits compilation(I love that CD). So knowing only about the rock, that I occasionally hear, on the radio and TV do you think I know anything compared to someone that is actually a fan? I could say that all rock is is screaming and complaining about how much life sucks. Is that an accurate assumption for ALL rock?

Rock is nothing but white kids with nothing wrong in their lives screaming about how much their lives suck. Accompanied by a guitar playing 3-4 different chords and a drummer that is more concerned about playing loud than playing rythmically.

^^^Their are rap groups that use live bands.

IMO, anything that can not be danced to or sung along with is not music. That covers all hard rock and metal. Metal is justs organized noise.

I am one of those people that find something musically redeeming in almost every style of music. Each has thier ups and downs. Unfortunately, what people do when they dont like a certain kind of music is ONLY look for flaws that that particular music contains.
As Benjamin Franklin said(I think), "the fault finder will always find faults.

Almost every style of music has at least one song in its genre that is heart felt and takes talent.
Ill even  list a few examples.

Rap - Wu-tang "C.R.E.A.M"
  This is a song that is truely about the ghetto and living life hard.
  No slang, no abuse...just telling it like it is.

          Gza/Genius - "life is a test"
  Another pure song listen to it. Sounds good, dont it.

Rock - Nirvana "Smells like Teen spirit"
  Just a fun song.

Metal - Metallicca "Hero of the day"
   Anyone who hears this song, and says its bad is Lying.
   Thats all there is to it. They are in denial.
           
            Metallica "Fade to black"
  Same as above. They just cant handle the fact that its good.
  I have seen so many people out of the corner of my eye        who "hate metal" nodding thier head in time to metalicca its not    even funny.

Just stop looking for the bad things. Cause they are always there. You will always find them.
Instead LOOK, LISTEN, FEEL, what is good about something and you will enjoy life so much more.
Life wasnt meant to sit around and complain all day.
So grow up.
