what would you like to change the most out of ffx?
« on: December 02, 2002, 09:06:42 PM »
i would say all of them.  But the two most annoying are motion blurred and the sidequests.
when summon monsters, limit breaks, cast magic spell, etc.  The motion blurred is over done.  Too blurry and can\'t see much.  I seen game like MGS2 where motion blurred are noticable, but only in cutscences and they are minimal.  Gameplay should not have any at all, like Gran Turismo 3.  Motion blurred make it hard to see the game and play it.  I hated catching all 7 butterflies in 30 seconds.  Very difficult.  if i catch the wrong one, random battle.  Hated it.  So was dodging birds and balls during chocobo race to get a perfect score of 0 second.  Nearly impossible but i finally did it.  Dodging 200 light bolts was a pain in the heck.  I have to keep track of how many i dodge and if i messed up, i have to do it over again!  not only that, i have to keep track when the light bolt strike.  i still haven\'t dodge all 200 yet.  and didn\'t bother.

You will find that motion blur was probably used to hide unwanted graphical imperfections.

I never played the game but its been done before on many other PS2 titles like NFSHP2 etc.

They\'ve already given Rikku a thong, so I\'m happy with the improvements.  ;)

I\'d suggest music.  The music was great, but hardly as memorable as the music from FF7/8/9.  Some songs were, but not nearly as many.

I agree with you on that Bobs_Hardware. THe music from FF9 was really awesome. Also...the ending for FFX kind of, well...sucked. I liked how it was similar to the movie "Ghost"...kind of touching...*sniff* :crying: They could have done much better though. Like in FFVIII, the ending was like...30 minutes or something...it was like watching a movie.

The music in the battle sequences got to be almost unbearable after so many hours of play....I almost went insane. They could have at least a variety of cheesy battle songs...and not just one....you know what I mean? And the whole Chocobo racing crappola...that was jst a nightmare.

oh yeah, how could i forget the music.  ff7 have the most greatest and memorable music.  you should vote on (other), then.

oh well, should i add the music to the list?

you are right.  ffx overused it though.  probably the there is slow framerate here and there, and summoning monsters probably drop the frame rate down.  so they use motion blur to blur it out.  but they use it abusively.  It\'s probably the worst motion blur i ever seen.

speaking of ffx, i also forgot something.  They should have implemented something to skip cutscenes/CG.  Some ingame cutscenes are long and should be skip with a push of a button like Devil May Cry.  Wow, ffx have too many things that can be improve on to list.  I am not dissing ffx, it\'s my 2nd favorite series next to FFVII.  But it would have been much better if they can improve all of it.

It was hell trying to capture decent screens from FFX battle sequences because of the motion blur, but since I don\'t have to do that anymore I really don\'t mind it...

I want better mini-games.  The ones in FFX were fun to play once, but only once.  The Gold Saucer in FFVII was bliss, and even the card game in FFVIII was fun for a while.  Those are the types of games I want to see from now on.

it seem like the list add up to me, i really hated the camera angle. bottom  back angle most of the time really hard to see where Tidus is going. it would be better if the camera angle isn\'t auto but manual too.  Nice if the game was top view most of the time like Xenogears and Star Ocean 3.  I hate the director guy that is in charge of the camera, he said he get headache a lot if the camera moves too much.  I prefer FFX to have crazy camera movement like FFVII.  I like how the director did the camera in Chrono Cross.  When you wanted to fight an enemy or heal a character in battle, the camera zoom in the enemy or the character so you can see who you battle with.  i really hated the camera director of FFX, he doesn\'t seem to mind a bunch of motion blur and out of focus but seem to mind about too much camera movement.  I find motion blur and out of focus gives me a major headache than crazy camera movement which i like.
FFVII/ Chrono Cross camera directors should be in charge of the camera movement for FFX.  I wanted to see FFXII have crazy camera work like FFVII and nicely camera done like Chrono Cross.

I voted for no black borders, the PAL conversion sucked in this respect. A 60hz mode would have beeen even better.

the Choice 50 or 60hz would of been nice but not essential...

Well, music is nice, but not essential either :)

Sorry, but I can\'t help but feel a little cheated about the quality of that conversion, specially after Squaresoft\'s words. I hope they give us some better conversions in the future, like Capcom is doing.

And don\'t make it that linear next time.

I can\'t agree more.
