finally rented "sum of all fears"

and i have to say best tom clancy movie since "hunt for red october"
but im a little confused on the whole jack ryan/john clark relasionship
sum of all fears seems to take place 1st before all other tom clancy stories(at least thats what the movies make it seem like ive only read patroit games and am only halfway though rainbow 6)ryan and clark seem to meet for the 1st time in both "sum of all fears" and "clear and present danger"
so can anyone map out a john clark/jack ryan timeline for so im less confused thanks
