What nationality are you?

Well, if you break it down, my ancestors were from Germany and Hungary. I have a German last name and more in touch with my German (dads) side of the family (we are all in America but sure I have really distant relatives in Germany). I only know my immediate family of the Hungarian part. Its small. So I guess I\'m like 80% German.

1) No one cares that you\'re American.  If you want to be legalistic about everything then this forum isn\'t the place for you.  Tell us your ethnic background and we might be interested.

2) You didn\'t teach me anything as everyone here already knows the difference between nationality and ethnicity.  You were just pointing out the obvious.  There\'s a difference between common sense and being anal about everything.

Is it really that important that you know my ethnic background?  Would it kill you if you never find out?

As Ryu had said, if everyone knows the difference between nationality and ethnicity, why didn\'t anyone point it out earlier?  The only reason why I\'m so "anal about everything" is because I don\'t want any of you guys sounding like freakin\' fools when you talk about it and mix up these two topics outside this little world of the forums.

Because of the fact that once the thread starter stated his ethnicity, it was just assumed by all that this is what he meant.  I certainly noticed that everyone was pointing out ethnicity, but didn\'t bring it up as it seemed fairly obvious that he wanted to know ethnicity as well.
