Consequences are one of the most important parts in a story. They\'re what is left when the story is over, which includes what the story has taught you (the meaning) or what it has made you think about. In fact, the other parts of the story exist just to create those consequences or for aesthetic reasons.
Change those consequences and you will alter reader\'s perception of the story completely (gamer\'s, in this case).
