nah, its so easy to build a nice computer for a low price now, its not even funny.
i spent like $1200 on my 486 in 1993, and only $1000 on my current system which totally blows the 486 away.  for $1500 you can have a top notch system, for $2000-$2500 can get you a top-of-the-line system.
i think for people that spent $200-$300 on a ps2, $25-$35 on a controller, $25-$35 for a mem card, and $20-$50 on numerous games, a nice $1500 system is probably do-able.

Celeron 2Ghz@2.6
512 266ddr
30GB harddrive (was it fujitsu... dunno)
Geforce2mx 400 (yup. this gotta go.. must find decent dx8 card or just get radeon 9500pro...) (and yes.. i have had really bad problems with old ati cards.. but there is always hope.. i hope..)
sblive- but using integrated card becouse it works better.
nothing else as hardware worth mentioning.

but i was happily suprised of the over clocking. accidentaly over clocked to 2.6 (bios shows 2Ghz with 133 bus...) and works like a charm. (with opened case there is no reason to use case coolers.. :)

oh. and i just updated to this from my belowed amdk6-2 300Mhz.. so it was time for little upgrade.
