:sconf: Has anyone noticed this movie is blue. The whole thing pretty much... I mean there is some red in it but its dull like there is blue over it...... So even though I think its only a decent movie I watched it several times..... Heres my theroy Murder it appears whenever there is gonna be a murder the color is normal and all other time it is blue

The use of colour is not a new thing.Steven Soderbergh does it in almost every movie he makes.It\'s all one strict colour.It is done very well in Traffic where every colour depicts another storyline.

Minority Report was a pretty good movie but at the end the plot took a few turns that don\'t add up(imho).

only seen it once, cant say i remeber too much, but yeah, kinda now you say it, it was blue...... ill have to re watch it...

kinda like crow 2 is yellow, and everything in alien4 is all that brown colour

\'Seven\' is a really darkish coloured movie the whole way through i find it hard to watch eyes get sore =]

"Payback" starring Mel Gibson was a film that was almost entirely blue.  I think it was really a fad among DPs at the time to do heavy tinting, but hopefully it will become less common.  It\'s fine to use it in moderation, but I think it was overdone many times.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? was put through a digital process where the greens were turned to browns and the directors played with tones throughout the shifting plot changes.  I also kinda wish they left it the way it was; some of the landscapes and forest scenes would have had a lush green color.  Pretty!!

Its to depict a futuristic type world. Apparently everything will be bright and blue/white in the future.

That is a movie right there that I love.  Very Very well shot.  I love some of the angles they used.

Most movies are filtered in some way or the other - just take Lord of the Rings where the film was digitally color graded for that \'fantasy look\'.

Or what about Saving Private Ryan... nice cinematography in that one. Janusz Kaminski (sp) r0x0rz (he shot Minority Report too btw).

Amelie is a french movie that I absolutely love!

The colours are very bright(they used some kind of filter).You get very happy when you watch the movie and the colours really enhance that feeling!.

I second that notion.

The director goes into the process/reasoning for the colour enhancements on the bonus material on DVDversion.  Great movie.

In respect to Minority Report, regardless of the feel that they were trying to achieve with certain filters, the DVD transfer was piss-poor at best,..well, maybe not that bad. I found the DVD version to very washed-out,  and a touch too grainy for my liking. If anyone has seen A.I. on disc, you may have noticed that these two releases are not dissimliar in their lack of quality. I suspect that both might see a re-release under the guise of a "Special Edition", with hopefully an improved transfer, which is not that uncommon with this medium.

Bah, for the time being all DVD\'s should be of the Super-bit variety. [/end rant]
