OK, now I am not one for stupid lawsuits, but I would sue the hell out of the police department on this one.  This shooting is absolutley ridiculous.

The video is of a dweeb getting freaking broadband!!!!!

It\'s a couple that get pulled over on the interstate.  It was a tip from another driver thinking these people robbed someone because they were driving real fast.

They were being held at gunpoint next to the truck

They said several times, can someone close the door to the truck, my dog is going to get out.

The dog gets out, runs around for about 3 seconds and the cop shoots him.

The people were completely innocent of everything and the cop shot their dog.

Absolutely ridiculous.

That dumb cop should have hit the dog with the butt of his gun FIRST before outright shooting its head off.  I hope this serves as an example to other cops when it\'s 7 armed officers vs 3 unarmed cavilians.  This really makes me sick.

That cop shouldn\'t be a cop. Did you see how small the dog was and he just blows the dogs head off with a shotgun. That made me sick, the dog did no harm at all and he just shoots it.

Whats the outcome so far?

That\'s what I was telling my wife.  The dog looked like it was looking for a frizbee to play with.

THIS WAS A SMALL BULL DOG!!!
Not a doberman..

If that dog went nuts and attacked the dude, he could have just used his gun as a bat and smacked the shit out of the dog.

Damn.  This just pisses me off.  That dog looked like it just wanted a cookie.

I am sooo angry about this...  I first wish death upon the cop, still would\'nt bother me if they kneeled him down in front of his family and shot him..

God damn traffic cop with a shotgun, damn redneck cops.  I hope that police department, town, officer get sued for everything.

I am very angry about this and I know many other pet owners are pissed as well.  A dog is just not a dog, but a family member.  The cop murdered their family member right in front of them.  Soo terrible, and the police department says its justified.

not only that, but the woman who called in the report said she saw a car doing about 110mph, but also saw money flying off the top of the vehicle and his wallet fly off.  Well, she must be god damn super woman to see all this and the vehicle was going 110.  It was all bad from the start for this family. sucks..  Maybe traffic cops should\'nt have guns.

I am good friends with a friend of the cop in question and have met him once. Here is what my firend wanted to post but didnt feel like registering.

This inncident happened in the city I live in, Cookeville TN. Now being an officer myself, I can tell you that the officer involved is an excellent cop. Officer Hall happens to love animals and has even applied for K-9 handler in the past. This inncident has brought much unwanted media attention on the city as well as the department. Officer Hall was asked by THP(Tennessee Highway Patrol) to assist in a felony stop. I also know the THP officer who intiated the stop very well. Trooper David "Doc" Bush is one of the best I have ever seen. We are pretty good friends and he swings by often and plays Madden NFL 2003 with my sergeant and myself often as well as backing us up on many stops. You first have to understand the seriousness of a felony stop. Trooper Bush was given a BOLO(Be On the LookOut for) on this particular vehicle and told to use EXTREME caution thus permitting a felony stop. When on a felony stop, the first thing you have to worry about is securing the occupants and the vehicle, not being polite enough to shut the door of the vehicle when asked by suspects.
Secondly, I wouldn\'t have shut the door either, thus allowing the Bulldog to stay in the vehicle. I would need to search the vehicle for weapons and or cash that could have been involved with this supposed armed robbery. Also, Officer Hall was covering the suspects with his weapon and would not have had time to lower and secure his weapon before pulling out his OC to spray the dog, nor would he want to given the nature of the stop. It was a split second decision on his part being confronted with an animal who\'s nature is known to be aggresive. If the dog would have been secured in a cage, none of this would have ever happened. Officer Hall has been put on administrative duties, which is to say that he is in the office for his entire shift now instead of patrolling until the investigation is viewed by a thrid party, a Sheriff in Maryland, and he is cleared of these charges. It was an unfortunate instance and had they not recieved bad information, it would have never taken place. Here is a link to our local newspaper, the Herald Citizen

As a result of this, not only has Officer Hall recieved death threats, but his wife and 3 young daughters have as well.

Okay, the family was on vacation and on their way back to NC. They stopped in Nashville to fill up the car and continued east on I-40. The male driver left his wallet on top of the car by accident as they drove off. A lady following behind them saw money flying from the vehicle and contacted the police. I believe the phone call was shown and heard on the second link I posted. Nashville then sent out a BOLO for the vehicle saying that they "could" have been "possibly" involved in an armed robbery. They advised all officers to not take any chances however and to use EXTREME caution. For all the police knew, there could have been a robbery, the victims shot and killed, and that\'s hy maybe nobody had called in to report it. THP Trooper Doc Bush spotted the vehicle and radioed ahead to Cookeville city for back-up before intiating a traffic stop.

Hit the dog with the gun.  No excuse to shoot the thing.  Absolutely no reason what so ever in anything the dude wrote that leads me to believe the guy couldn\'t have hit the dog with the gun.

Wait, why would he even have hit the dog?  It looked like he just wanted to come sniff his shoes and possibly get a cookie.

Thanks for posting that note luckee.  It does give some prespective and some insight, but I still see no reason to shoot the dog.

This case is finally getting some more publicity.  I heard on the radio that this is the third dog this cop has shot.

Yeah, that\'s normal.

I have to agree the shooting was excessive force.  It\'s not a law nor should it be to cage your pet inside a vehicle.
