I didn\'t see the video, as I don\'t want to become incredibly pissed off.  but from the description, if he would have done that to my dog, he\'d be a dead bitch now.  No excuse for it what so ever, IMO he should have to turn his sheild in right now.  Or at the very least be susspended for an indeffinent amout of time, because this proves that he is unable to perfrom his job safely and make life threatening desisions on the fly.

This guy is why so many LEO\'s are blindly hated, and makes it difficult on the rest of them (us).

I probably like cops less than anyone on the boards. I will give examples at the end, but this is my thought on the situation.

It is a dog. I care deeply for my animals, but it is just that. The cops life is worth alot more than an animals. He may or may not be a jerk. Heck it really does not matter. What person is not a jerk from time to time?????? Does that mean you should be shot? Wait don\'t answer that ;)  I believe this is a two way street. If a cop lets a dog out on you, and you hurt the dog they should not charge you with assault on a police officer.

So far as the cops actions. As much as I hate to say it. It is within his right to do so. Cops have alot of room to move around here. If you so much as touch them, it is assault. It\'s a messed up world.

Now for a few cop stories. In the county that I leave there was a cop killed a few years ago. The reason was that a policeman pulled over the same individual everytime he saw him, and beat the living daylights out of him then let him go. One night the guy decided he had enough. So when he got pulled over he pulled out a gun, and started shooting. The kicker of the story is that the cop that pulled him over was not the jerk cop that pulled him over all the time. An innocent cop was killed while a whatever survived to see another day. The shooter received the death penalty if my memory serves me right.

The cops have personally affected me more than one time also. Let me get this out of the way upfront. I have never been arrested so obviously I was not doing anything. I can not count how many times I have been pulled over in the past 10 years. Most of it was attributed to the way I looked. (Think long hair hippie.) I have been told that if I so much as moved I would be a blood spot on the pavement, if I was lying to the cop he would pound my head in before taking me to jail, and my vehicle searched more than I have masturbated. Urm maybe not that much but alot believe me on that. Not to mention I have a gun pointed at me a ridiculous amount of times. It has angered me quite a bit, and I even called to report the cop. Nothing has ever come to it, and never will. When I get pulled over now I want to run in the worst sort of way. I have an extreme fear of guns, and the cops pulling them on an innocent civilian is unbearable. I have heard a state trooper say that newer cops are making it dangerous for the rest of them.  end rant

but u could see clearly that the dog wasnt going to attack him. seemed like the cop choked under pressure and shot the dog when it wasnt necessary. It wasnt growling or charging him like he was going to bite his nuts off. I just think he paniced(sp?)

Don\'t get me wrong. I am not taking up for the cop, but the dog was out of control. It was the minute it stepped out of the car. Police officers have what is considered an extremely dangerous job (even though being a taxi driver, or even farmer is more dangerous) thus they have the right to protect themselves from what they deem to be a dangerous situation, and this is probably one of them sadly. :crying:

I still think that he shouldn\'t be in this line of work if he can\'t make resonable assumptions on the level of danger he is facing.  What next, he\'ll shoot a baby \'cause it was "plotting on him"?  Personally when I become a cop, if I were to work with a nut like this I would ask for a different shift than him because he just isn\'t safe.

It will be a long while.  I heard the guy on the radio this morning and apparently further along on the tape there are three instances of the cop laughing about it.

Also the cops got very defensive in the end once they realized they were innocent.  They still have not apologized or anything to these people.
I wear a necklace now because I like to know when I\'m upside down.

That really makes me sick, I hope he doesn\'t get away with it. I don\'t want to get all sappy, but people need to realise that that dog was someone\'s beloved pet, and it can never be replaced.

Alot of cops are this way. My bet would be that most of the cops there got a blast out of it. Also remember what you consider to be reasonable does not hold true to someone else. If the press had not picked this up, the cop would be out protecting and serving the fine citizens of Tennesse tonight. :D

this reminds me of an incident in Oakland about 20 years ago.  A cop saw a black man in his front yard with a blood soaked apron and a butcher knife.  So the cop shot him, next to the black man was a barbeque...
