Even if we were a mistake, in theory there has to be at least one other mistake - given that Universe is infinite.

Why does it have to be NASA?  Can\'t Canada, or perhaps Cyprus do something?  Come on Unicron.  Get your people into space!!!

Agreed, Ryu.

Universe is, indeed, expanding. The galaxies are constantly getting farther away from each other. But where are they expanding to? Infinity. The space in itself is infinite, while the amount of galaxies isn\'t. But given that Galaxies are born all the time, the amount is as close to infinite as our human mind can comprehend.

Unicron, I think that I saw an Unidentified Flying Object once. Or, in fact, I did - because I wasn\'t able to identify it. I am being serious here, so bear with me. ( Plus I have a couple of additional stories concerning extra terrestrial phomenon / experiences )

In the winter of 1991 my father woke up to find my bed empty. I hadn\'t disappeared - I had sleep-walked to the living-room, and slept on the floor. Or at least so it seemed at first. That evening we warmed the Sauna. While in the Sauna, my father made an intriguing discovery - in both my right arm and leg there were three perfectly triangular markings. He, being a very UFO-enthusiastic person, thought I had been abducted. The mystery surrounding those markings has remained unanswered to this day.

Next phomenon, my first UFO-sighting happened when our family was enjoying a vacation in Lanzarote, an island in Greece, back in \'93. We were living in a very nice hotel - I found the stairways to be intriguing and worthy of exploring. One day I returned from a staircase-adventure to witness my father standing still in the balcony, watching at something. He shouted me to come. My little-sister followed. My mother was somewhere - holding our one and only camera. The object my father was following with his eyes was nothing sort of amazing. A black object, as if made out of three perfect balls, hovered near our hotel. It made no sound, and it seemed as if there was a force-field of a kind surrounding it. Suddenly it started to move against a high-speed wind - to the right from our point-of-view. I quickly checked the balconies next to ours, and I saw many people standing still, jaws wide open, pointing at the object. So we weren\'t the only witnesses. I will never forget that day.

A year later our family moved from a small village to the countryside, inhabited by about 200 people - mostly our relatives. I got a couple of new friends, and boy, did we have adventures that one winter! The winter of \'94 was perhaps the most mysterious period in my life. One dark evening me and my friends were having a snow-fight outside the house. Suddenly, before we even noticed, a comet-like, huge object passed over us. The object seemed to be near the tree-tops. But before we got the chance to chase the object, it continued it\'s journey with a velocity like no other. It disappeared in about a second to the horizon. We were spell-bound, dazzled, paralyzed. For a couple of minutes - or a period that seemed long - we just stood there and looked at the spot where the object had been. I\'m not sure whether it was an illusion, a comet of a kind, or UFO - but at least we three agreed that it wasn\'t explainable, illusion or not. Given that I was only 8, it might\'ve been generated by my imagination. Yet I still believe that it wasn\'t, as mass-hallusination is very rare.

Later that winter I witnessed at least two unexplainable objects - but as I can not remember those sightings well, I will not try to describe them in detail.

But I am sure that we are not alone.

Well there is no proof that galaxies are getting farther away. It is based on the fact that we observe redshift on the galaxies. 3 Thing are known to cause this.
1. Movement (This is what scientist belives is the case)
2. Gravity
3. Matter like gas and other things that interacts with the light.

IMO no 3 is the truth.
But there is proof for any of these.

Yes, it is only a theory - a theory junctioned to another theory, the theory of Big Bang. Yet we can not know for sure. We are still just humans.

Impossible? no. Improbable? yes.

If you look mathematically at how many factors scientists say were needed to create life on earth you would see that you have a better chance of entering a lottery with 100 billion other people and being the only person with the winning number. When the odds are that high it is a mathematical impossibility. Meaning that it COULD happen but its more likely than not that it won\'t.

Given that scientists believe the universe is "infinite" it is improbable that Earth is the only planet where life sprang up but not impossible.

With that said. I don\'t think we are alone in the universe, galaxy, or even on earth. There is unknown life out there that we(as a whole) have yet to discover but may have already discovered us.

Gohan you sould download the SETI@home programme that help sifts through the data receved Via Radio Telescope.

i am running it at the moment and i have data from the Arecido Radio Observatory the world\'s largest single-dish radio telescope.

you can get plugins that provide you with a sky map showing you the location of the data you processed.

also there are a whole bunch of add-ons that make it even more intresting.
