firstly, whats yer budget?
but if money is no objection, then like souly said theirs the R9700 pro, but if u wait till mid march and r willing to spend 400~500$ then get the GF FX.

Try FX, MX cards are cheaper versions of Ti cards.

dont know too much about video cards, but from what iv heard MX is not a good kind of card to use if u plan on gaming. I have a geforce 3 and its been working fine. Only draw back is that on Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, it can get very choppy and i refuse to turn down the graphics, lol. But, if u can afford it, Geforce FX is the way to go. Im personally either gunna wait till the FX price drops or wait until the next geforce version comes out.

The Geforce 4 Ti4600 are pretty cheap now. They\'ll prolly be even cheaper when Geforce FX is finally released.

it also depends on your processor and your Power supply (the newer boeards need more power from your power supply)  I had problems with my 250 watt PS with my Radeon 9700Pro card until I got a 450 watt beast!) you get a cable to tap into your Power supply with the card. the new Geforce card wont be out till spring from what i have heard.  I wouldnt be surprised if it cost upwards of 500 bucks (the radeon cost 400) plus by the looks of it, it takes up 2 bays it is so tall (mostly the cooling fan).

Yep. u need a good psu with the newer machines today. i had a 300watt psu that kept goin pop. so i\'ve replaced it with a high quality 400watt psu. works perfectly fine now. Although i may be buying a 520watt psu when i get my new case. The psu i have may not fit. :( The old 300watt just needs the 5amp fuse replaced. so i\'ll use that in this case if i don\'t have to buy a new psu.

if u have a card in yer AGP port, you NEVER put a card in the 1st PCI slot below it

Hrmm Emmy, I\'m not exactly sure who you quoted that from, so I can\'t be sure what he\'s talking about. But, given the topic title, I\'ll assume he\'s talking about the new GeForce FX. Some of the higher clocked cards take up two bays. One for the card itself and ONE FOR THE COOLING FAN!!!!.

Not to nitpick, or prop up my post count (where did the post counts go anyway?), but MX\'s are "mainstream" products. That means, they\'re better suited for granny or mummy for their internet surfing experience. The new MX cards out now lack vertex shaders, so they are actually inferior to your GeForce3!

Bottom line, AVOID MX CARDS IF U WANT TO PLAY GAMES

There\'s GF4 cards that take over 1 of the pci slots (mine being one of them)..
I see AGP cards being moved a slot higher in the future....  leaving 2 slots worth of space for agp cards.
