I typed a long reply to VS\'s thread but was closed before I hit the reply button, and I\'ll be damned if I let it go to waste.  So discuss where you think the forum is going.

First things first, I\'m annoyed that my "raping" joke has become the norm, thanks to over use.  I usually tried to limit it to 3-4 times a month, if other members used it without my knowledge, then they owe me royalties.

As for VS, I\'m in somewhat agreement with Shox.  VS\'s punishment had somewhat of a foul stench to it.  It seemed more or less petty and childish, intended to piss him off and embaress him instead of punishing him and hopefully curve his spamming (which I never really minded)

Now as to the revertion of the forums back to how they used to be.  This seems to be a popular topic with the mods, and this seems to be the main motive behind the non tolerance of "spam".  Unfortunetly I don\'t think this will happen, the mods are overlooking the fact that a forum is based around it\'s members.  The forums has a different clientel of members now than it did in "the good old days", and due to this we have a different flavor in this forum.  I have a feeling that if the forum is to be reverted back, it will be nothing but 10-12 members talking to themselves.  As it is, the forum is in a slumph, members are somewhat reluctant to post because they don\'t want to be labeled a \'spammer", which has become the new age scarlet letter as of late, or they don\'t post because they are just plain affraid to have fun.

Also, these forums have become a good old boys club as of late.  There are certain members who can get away with murder while others catch hell for minor stuff.  If you pay attention to it, it\'s down right sickening.  I\'m not going to name names, as I don\'t want to be targeted, but it\'s happenening.

Thes forums are in a downward spiral, and I\'m debating on my future here.  Maybe the forums will surprise me and pull out of it, but I\'m not going to hold my breath.

forums go in cycles

some long, some slow

there really is no steady climb or fall

wanna leave?  (this goes for everyone)
do it quietly please, cause noone cares
there will ALWAYS be new people to take yer place

heck, i could leave and just about the only two people that would miss me are clyde and soully

would i make a dramatic off-topic post about how unfair life is?

nope, i would click logout and find a new hangout

none of us are special and are just people in the world sitting behind a computer screen typing letters and words hoping to amuse one another

Of course it does and Im one of them and always have been. While im not saying I was always innocent, but you have to learn to leave things alone untill you have absolute proof. Actually, come to think of it, it doesnt matter then b/c all they have to say about it is "b/c we can" or something similar.

Vapor had fair warning, there was a post made by luke explaining what was about to happen. Apparently he still wasnt paying attention, so thats how the cookie crumbles. This is why one shouldnt burn bridges in their life.

Part of the reason the some old left is b/c of the newer ones that spammed like hell and turned this place into crap. I lurked for a while b4 actually joining a year ago and noticed that spam was here as it always will, but there is a handful of ppl and thats almost ALL they do. In vapors case, all except the nfl thread, and even in there.

Im all for the "war on spam" if it will clean the threads up. Nothing is more annoying on a message board than sifting through tons of crap in a topic.

I also think some are confusing humor with spam. The line between the both isnt as fine as some ppl seem to think around here and it looks like thats part of their excuse.

There is nothing wrong with having fun in here but spam isnt it. That shit is juvenile and plain retarded and everyone in here( with few exceptions) are to old for that type of thing.

Sometimes one word replies do the answer, but rarely is that world rape or penis, especially in every post.

Good Lord, what a depressed freak you are, go suck an exhaust pipe or something.

As for the forums, I think they aren\'t as bad as everyone is saying. I have been here since the beginning and not much has changed since then. I agree that the whole \'raping\' thing and \'ghey\' thing got quite outta hand, but only because it was encouraged by certain people, mods included (I\'d name names but it would just get edited).

I agree though Theoman, there is alot of double standarding going on around here, not that I really care though, as, like I just said, its been like that from the beginning.

Vapour had fair warning, now he is paying the price. He acted immature and now he\'s paying for it.

I would miss you too, mm. And I\'m sure a lot of other people would too. The fact that we are never in agreement doesn\'t bother me(except that Nintendo rocks ;)).

Omen, the forums started it\'s downward spiral A LONG time ago. Just recently(to be specific, Luke\'s thread, Luke, I love you) it has only picked up in quality. Don\'t think it just started it\'s downward spiral now, otherwise I would have to say you enjoy spam and meaningless posts instead of well thought out ones like in the old days. And I emphasize on meaningless posts there. Because mods do not really care about spam, just the extremely stupid posts like all the gay and fart jokes that have been occuring lately. There\'s good spam and then there\'s bad spam(go seinfeld).

I\'m really liking the direction of the forums now. Less spam and more thought out posts and threads. What\'s there to complain about? Less retarded posts? Stricter mods? Conform or leave. Simple as that.

You see, what\'s better. Two pages about ghey jokes and raping or the first 5 well-thought out posts in this threads? The quality of the forum in your opinion lies in your answer to that question.

god damnit, would people stop using my joke as the deffinition of spam?  I just did a search for my name and rape, it only came up in 20 threads, and of those 20 threads the majority of the time it\'s other people saying that I was going to rape someone.  I went through most of those threads, and the one\'s that I did say "rape" were humor threads.

*edit, was busy looking at old threads and posting this took a long time*

Jumpman, I agree that quality threads are much better than spam fests, but I\'m affraid that the fun will be sapped out of these forums.  In addition I think a majority of members who come here to goof around and have fun with one another will leave because of this, leaving the boards reletivly dead.  I hope I\'m wrong though.

Theoman, I wouldn\'t call your rape joke spam, because thats just it, it was a joke, that went way too far. Other members, tried hard, loser members that wanted to be funny, picked up on the joke and then it became common place. Your certainly not to blame for the forums dwindle into the abyss.

Like I siad, it\'s not (mostly) the regular members who are to blame, but rather selected mods, and how they chose to deal with the situation.

They can\'t complain about the standard of topics when it was them who were partially to blame. Come on, I know, simply because I was the target of some of those jokes, and some were made by mods.

Just to clear things up...

There has never been a bad shower joke about Racer. He is also one of the best posters on this forum now.

I hope you\'re wrong too. I enjoy the occasional spam fests where there\'s no point to it at all and very memorable posts come out of them. But that became the norm. 90% of threads were thrashed because one, two, or even 5 people would spam away thus completely ruining the thread for everyone else. And these would be serious threads too, not light-hearted ones. Ya just have to think it out and find away to not make it worthless spam.

People can still goof around. I know mods will tolerate it as long as it\'s on topic goofing around. Not every post has to be serious. That would get repitive for sure.
