BMW Compact facelift?
« Reply #15 on: January 25, 2003, 04:30:37 AM »
It\'s just a coupe with a 4 cylinder in it.  No big whoop.

Is this the hatchback?

I\'d rather have the red car in the back.  :)

I think you\'re confusing yourself. The Compact is like the 3-series. Just a bit smaller. It\'s available with the SAME engines as the 3-series; that is: 316, 318, 320 (and 320d) and finally 325. The 325 being a 6-cylinder of course.

Personally I like the car. I still prefer the ordinary 3-series, but if that is a 10/10, I\'d rate the Compact 9/10 - so naturally I\'d like to own either of them.

well the only 6 cylinder you listed was the 325.  I didn\'t see it was offered in the 325 so I assumed it was the 4 cylinder.

Although if you ask Luckee, there is nothing wrong with a 4 cylinder.

Yeah, that also means it wasn\'t only 4-cylinder engines. :p

Besides, the BMW engine I\'m interested in is still the 320d. :)

The 325 Compact is only like 0.5 secs from the 330 when it comes to 0-100 kph (0-60 mph). :p

The 320d like I want is also only marginally slower than a 330 when it comes to acceleration from 80-120 kph. And that\'s before I put a different chip in that\'ll up the torgue to some 400 nm. :D

Chips don\'t do anything in BMWs because they are already tuned to a higher compression.  Until you add a cold air intake, exhaust, etc, the only thing the chip does is pulls off the limiter (Which you probably wouldn\'t have anyway) and increases the redline.

0-60 is .7 different, but believe me, there is a huge difference when driving the thing.  I test drove both, A LOT.  and 325 did nothing for me after driving the 330.  But it\'s like 5-7 grand different.  DOn\'t get me wrong, they both kick ass.

Now you\'re being silly again old man... ;)

The 320d is a turbo engine. Chipping it is very easy and does indeed give a performance boost. :)

Trust me on these things, I know my stuff.

you said 325, not 320d.

Doh, just noticed you shifted gears on me mid stream.

Yes, you can chip a diesel.  You are correct sir.
