Old Jams
« on: February 08, 2003, 06:27:45 PM »
I remember the days when my mom used to tell me how much better music was back in her days. How I used to tell her that she was wrong and that I hated that crap, even though I hadn\'t given it a try.

Then I got VC, and actually liked the songs in there. I downloaded some. Now everytime I play some songs in my computer, my mom starts singing along, and tells me that she tought I hated her music.

I have songs from Kc and the Sunshine band, Michael Jackon, Tina Turner, Squeeze, and some others. But, Im pretty sure there are more bands and artist with good songs from back then that I\'ve never heard of.  Im not trying to call anybody here old or anything. So, can you peeps hook me up with the names of some old jams you like, from the 80\'s or even 70\'s?
Don\'t try to confuse me with what you call  facts, my mind is already made up.

What is VC, and what is VRock?

Little known 70\'s hard rock you should listen to:

Captain Beyond - Two albums: Self-titled first album, and "Sufficiently Breathless"

Wishbone Ash - Many many albums.  The ones I like best are "There\'s the Rub" and "Just Testing."

Let\'s face it... Friggin DEEP PURPLE people.  DEEP PURPLE.  You must own "Machine Head," and be sure to get their live album "Made in Japan."  Intense stuff.

While we\'re on the topic of live albums, the greatest live rock album of all time is "Strangers in the Night" by UFO.  Close second is "Alive" by KISS.  For that matter if you don\'t have a few KISS albums, you are not a complete human being.

Do yourself a favor and buy that boxed set of the entire Led Zeppelin catalog.  They pratically invented so much of what we know as Rock today, it\'s hard to comprehend how great they were.

I\'m also going to put in a plug for my personal favorite cutting edge band from the 70s, The Mahavishnu Orchestra.  Their two great rock/fusion masterpieces are "The Inner Mounting Flame" and "Birds of Fire."  Both are utterly brilliant.

VC is short for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the ps2 game. Vrock is one of the games radio stations which plays 80\'s rock music.

OMG, why would you recommend the WORST Styx album?

If you\'re going to listen to Styx, then get "The Grand Illusion" or "Pieces of Eight."  Hell, even "Paradise Theater" is better than Kilroy!

Awesome and best band of 70\'s=Led Zeppelin

Runner up-Pink Floyd
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

Led Zepplin is wayyy over-rated and way over played. I feel like I want to stab someone in the eye everytime I hear Stairway to Heaven.
