The Doomsday device and the Cold War....
« on: February 27, 2003, 03:20:03 PM »
In 1962 the world came to the brink of nuclear war. With the crisis in Berlin and Cuba the world was almost turned upside down. It is still the closet we came to self destruction.

Putting one idea on the table Soviet scientists came up with the Idea for a Doomsday device. Just like in the fictional movie with George C. Scott and Peter Sellers. Dr Strangelove was almost reality.

The massive original H-Bomb Ivan was exploded 15000 feet above the ground and broke windows in Sweden and Finland. The fireball was visible 500 miles away and the blast was felt in a 1000 mile radius. The bomb came in about 30ft long and was 150,000 times more powerful that the bombs dropped on Japan.

The Doomsday Bomb Would be built inside a ship taking up the entire hull. If it were detonated at sea level it would vaporize everything around it filling the earth with radiation that would end all life. The bomb would have been automatic and out of control.

If the radiation levels had gone up due to a nuclear strike by the US on the Soviet Union the Doomsday bomb would have went off. Nikita Kruschev got cold feet and cancelled the project. Now that was in the sixtys 40 years ago. Is there another such type of device somewhere now?

If the Russians could have done this then how do we know such a device could not be somewhere on someones table now. A world killer.

Something to think about.

If one was in existance and set off I don\'t think we would know what hit us. Everything would end in an instant. I am not going to loose sleep worrying about it anyway.

Good thing we had Kennedy as our President.

Himmler and the nazis were mad with the idea that certain artifacts along with science could produce super solders genetic wonders. Castle Wolfenstien was more fiction than truth.

However some of the rituals did happen. Indiana Jones stuff.
